Karin, just sent a little something to you via email, for your blog. This morning I was thinking of my first trip to the desert in Nevada last year, so I was inspired to write about it.
I'm so sorry it took me so long...life has been hectic! Hope you enjoy,
Mary
Valley of Fire, A Memory
My eyes,
So accustomed to grass,
trees, water, green on blue.
Looked out
On earth the shade of ochre,
sagebrush and twisted life.
The smell
Of salt, rain and flowers,
The lush and damp of home.
The wind
Now carries the scent of
Rock, iron, pinon, sun.
I lift my head and thank
the Mother Goddess for
Her gift.Mary aka VelvetSky

I love the poem juxtaposed to the painting. I love seeing what is going on in the cave. Thanks!!
I love this area of the country. The scenery is breath taking.
You’re both very talented!
I enjoyed the visuals the poem evokes, thanks for including this.
Helg, Mary wrote the poem and sent along the illustration.
Yes, I know, dear
Hence I said you’re both talented: she for the poem and pic choice, you for including her in your very interesting blog!
Best!!
Oh, good! I didn’t want to take credit when it wasn’t mine…Yes, I love what she writes. I always love the art she includes too. I doubt I’d find it otherwise.

John, I was entirely remiss in not crediting your amazing painting with my poem. I love your inspiring, beautiful work. Mary
