This was first sent out in January 2007, but considering the storm that the NE US had in October of this year, it's a good reminder to look for the beauty.
I got an email from a friend in Michigan. She says it is sunny and cold again today. She is going to go out at noon and drive around. Some people, even in her neighborhood, just got power restored. Some are still waiting, running water through their pipes to keep them from freezing.
I loved her description of the trees looking like diamonds. I remember ice storms like this as a child. There are times I miss winter, but I'd have a hard time staying warm.

We had a beautiful ice storm the last few days. I say beautiful because it did not impair driving at all--only stuck to the trees-- and we did not lose electricity. The sun was out today so the trees were like diamonds in the light.
