Have no fear, Underdog is here!

Who let the dogs out, woof, woof!

I took the girls to see Underdog this afternoon, and we all enjoyed it. I enjoyed it on a different level, as the word puns were funnier to me and the Thesaurus jokes, as were the silly poems that Underdog raps. If I felt clever enough this afternoon, I'd make up a short, silly poem as a paean to the movie. Notice I too used a P word, LOL! That's as clever as I feel right now.

It was moderately scary, and it's a tribute to the movie that I actually worried for the poor dog at one point. He has such cute eyes. My girls are 9 and 11, so the level of scariness needs to be taken into effect if your children are younger. The scare factor is from bad dogs (or dogs obedient to a bad master) so if your kids are afraid of dogs, this might reinforce it. But it wasn't bad, no blood is drawn. I thought most of the dog speaking was done through re-mastering special effects, but evidently there were dog puppets too.

If you love dogs, and if you loved Underdog as a cartoon, you will like this. Seeing Jim Belushi was a treat, and the young boy was better than eye candy, as was the young female reporter. I personally loved the dumb blond male 'partner' to the bad guy. He was a hoot.

It was a fun thing to do for a Sunday afternoon and definitely part of my support team!
