This video came across my computer this morning, and it reminds us of what is important during this time.
It's not the flutter or the flurries (snow or otherwise), it is the joy and love of the season which is represented in our hearts.
My youngest has helped me grasp the nucleus once again. She is so happy thinking of others. She and I went out for her to buy gifts for the family (her idea). She wanted to spend her own money from small allowances that she is reluctant ever to spend on herself. I was so struck by her generosity and love. (I didn't let her spend much of her own money. We made up the difference.)
We had such fun, we went out a couple of other times, just to wander, talk and window shop, the same as my own dear mother and I used to do. It's nice to get away one on one.
Then I took the next youngest out.
I find it easier to go out either early in the morning or after dark. The traffic is horrendous at other times. But we zip right out in the early evening, find a parking spot easily, and just enjoy ourselves.
And yesterday, after helping a friend, I zipped out before 8:30 am. I had a lot of fun thinking of others and picking up some small items and planning for another since they are out of stock.
Surprisingly, or not, my 14 year old and I found perfect gifts within about 10 minutes, all in one store, JC Penneys, BION, at the right price with a $10 coupon besides. It was totally without any push or angst. And we are both excited to see how they are received, because they are so perfect.
Then, think of my Book Girl who is completely generous in the gift she is planning for the two of us. What fun we will have experiencing it!
I love Christmas and all that it represents. I hope I would have recognized him had I been alive at that time, that I would have honored him with my life and my love.
I sometimes wonder who it was in my ancestors who first followed him -- did that unknown person follow him during his lifetime (does it go back that far) or were they led to follow through the life or testimony of someone else after his resurrection and ascension.
And who were the other ancestors who kept the faith down through the ages so that it would be mine when I took it also. I credit my own mother and father for me -- and their own families for them.
Who is it who has kept the faith for you in your own life?
If you celebrate something other than Christmas, the blessings of the season are still yours.

Hi Karin,
My late maternal grandmother had an “unwavering” faith. I could go on, and on about her footprints on my heart, but in a nutshell she taught me (2) things: prayer and books. It’s her I blame for my love of reading.
How great, Susan! And you are leaving footprints daily too! Thanks for being a friend.
Aww. I can’t wait until Feb.
Happy Christmas! May it be full of love, family, and Christ.
