I don't know how I missed this one, but I vaguely, vaguely remember reading about the mini series when it was on TV.

If you are a fan of Pride and Prejudice, you will love this movie. It's a 4 part mini-series, about 3 hours on DVD. It is so seamlessly done that it is not apparent where one episode ends and the next begins.

Jemima Rooper plays Amanda Price, a modern day Londoner, who finds herself surprised when Lizzie Bennett appears as if by magic in her bathroom through a time portal. And the next thing you know they have swapped places, unexpectedly.

Jemima is just perfect in this role. She makes the show imminently watchable.

Add in Hugh Bonneville playing Mr. Bennet; Mrs. Bennet annoying as ever; an oily Mr. Collins; the twittering sisters; beautiful Jane; Mr. Bingley who is about as ineffective as Ashley in Gone with the Wind; a totally mixed up story; Lady Catherine de Bourgh, wonderfully Machiavellian -- and you have the makings for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

This DVD has only recently been released in the US. Do yourself a favor and see it. We got ours from the library. Then we ordered a copy for ourselves.

Through many twists and turns all comes out well, but not as expected. There are some changes. One of the most fun story lines is with Mr. Wickham.

There's a lot of clever dialogue and none of it sounds stilted.
