#1 and #3 daughters and I went to HP tonight, both in costume. Bookgirl went as Rita Skeeter, lookin' fine in bright blond wigs. Youngest went as Tonks and wore a lime green wig. I dropped them off about 9 pm, to wait. I went back at 11 pm. The theaters were packed. We bought our tickets in the afternoon.

You can see Bookgirl's review here and a picture of her in costume as well as pictures of the cast in their parts.

I have to say I didn't really like this book, but the scene I dreaded the most (where Dumbledore and Harry go to get the Horcrux) was relatively quick in the movie and well done (whereas I felt it went on and on in the book.)

I loved this movie. It was extremely well done, great visuals. Our beloved characters are back again. The choices as actors and actresses are really proving to be superb. Broadbent just nails his part. He will be forever associated with it -- and likely more people will have seen him in this than all his other parts combined. I recognized him as Bridget Jones' father and from other roles.

I loved the portrayal of Luna and of Lavender. I confess I didn't 'get' Lavender in the book. She is hilarious in the movie, as is Ron Weasley. The friendships/loves of the main characters are developed in a way to be believable, whereas they came out of nowhere in the books, as far as we were concerned. Whereas Snape tended to be over the top in the other movies, his screen time here was perfect. Draco earned his points in this one.

Surprisingly there were at least two people there who had not read the books and were completely surprised by the ending.

I felt the movie really clarified much of the book. We all felt this was the best of the movies so far. We'd go to this again tomorrow or the sequel(s) -- too bad they aren't out at the same time!

Have you seen it? We will likely go again. It's now 4 am. I have to go to bed!

There was a lot of clapping in our theater when the movie ended.
