Review: FOTD New Mary Kay Fall 2009 colors

I headed on over to see Sara, my Mary Kay director, early this morning to see the new fall colors and other items for Holiday 2009. These will be available for purchase in the near future, but in the meantime, you can see them on.

Here’s a write up from another blog with pictures of the products.

I went to her house with foundation on, but nothing else on my face, hoping to be able to do the colors. I didn’t think to bring my own brushes so it was a little tricky doing everything with my fingers. Better if I’d had brushes.

Eyes:
Mary Kay Fall 2009 Loose Eye Shadows in Lilac Lace, Cashmere, and Pink Organza
— these come in a wand with a little sponge applicator — this is a lot less messy than some other similar packaging from other brands. The shadow doesn’t fall off the applicator. It stays until you apply it. I wanted to try all the colors, so I just layered them on up. I used a lot of the Cashmere as I didn’t bring any liner.
Mascara at home, later before pix: Guerlain
Lined at home, later before pix: with Mary Kay Tahitian Gold pencil, topped with Extreme Black NYX liner (in wand) unfortunately, the NYX traveled and smudged so one of my pictures I eliminated.
Brows: Chanel powder compact

Primer: Vital Radiance cool
Foundation: Vital Radiance # 10
on one side; # 30 on the other
Blush: Mary Kay Silk Nectar — this is really pretty and perfect for my coloring; I used my finger and applied only the pink — there are 3 shades in the palette, the others would be perfect for bronzing or contouring (or if you wanted a warmer color) but I didn’t have my brushes with me, so I didn’t figure it would work.
Highlight: Mary Kay up the center of the face.

Lips: Guerlain #8 and 624 Candy Shine (glossy lipstick) smooshed, one on each lip

My take:
Eye Colors
I think the eye colors are beautiful for fall and will apply nicely with a little help from my brushes and a base underneath. Gorgeous packaging — the end of the wand has a large crystal that looks like Swarovski. I don’t know if it is. It reminds me of the pencils (usable for hair) that we got at Swarovski in Innsbruck.
Cheek Color
I like the blush really well. The other color is deeper and would be nice for someone who is a bit to a lot darker than I am.
Two shades of gloss I saw only the browner color, but did not apply it as it was an open tester.

Also new:
Replenishing Serum+ C — supposed to be very good; I tried it on the back of my hand; I’ve used products with C in them for years, along with Mary Kay products, so it’s good they are branching out. Comes in packs of 4; each one will last a week if used twice a day. Use 3 pumps morning and night.
Bela Belara (and Belara) — Cute solid perfume; cute sparkling body powder; body lotion.
Peppermint lotion Loved this. It is not strong. Smells almost as if there is some amber in it, but it could have been from layering it on top of the C serum. It doesn’t smell plasticy, which is a good thing. There is also another scented lotion, but I don’t remember what it was. Sara didn’t have it to try yet.

Have you tried any of these yet? Do you wear Mary Kay?
