Dragon Spear is the third book in the trilogy about Creel and the dragons. It is series for young adults, but interesting also for those of us who are young at heart and like a good story.

I've been busy with summer kiddo things and the time to read has fallen by the wayside. I had to really work to finish this book, which is a kind of oxymoron for me, because reading should be a pleasure and a getaway pastime. Blame it on the other stuff I've got going on.

Shardas and Velika, the dragon king and queen, live comfortably in the Far Isles, but wouldn't you know that doesn't last long! Velika is kidnapped by a group of dragons who claim to have followed the real queen, way back in history.

It is up to Creel and Luka to save her -- and ultimately Shardas too.

It's fun to set aside reality for an alternate universe. In this one, the dragons love to hoard -- and the dragons who have kidnapped Velika hoard humans -- as servants or slaves. You can imagine what kind of servant Creel is when she is kidnapped by a hoarding dragon!

Shardas loves to hoard glass, and since his original hoard was destroyed, he is now a glass maker -- he just lets his flame go along the sand on the beach and voila! he has glass spears -- and odd shaped glass what-nots as he learns to perfect his craft.

His spears become both a safety (think fence) and a hindrance (think being fenced in) and weapons (imagine if they fall into the wrong dragon's hands...)

And of course, Creel has to -- once again -- destroy her wedding gown for the greater good. There is a bit about her dressmaking and embroidery skills, but more adventure and action.

Have you read any of this series?
I give this a 2 or a 2.5 out of 4. I still enjoyed it. It is not yet available on Kindle.
