Review BE Bare Skin Leslie Blodgett Perfume Diaries

I chose to receive a free sample of this with my last order from Sephora. I wanted to try it. I have now tried it several times over several days.

Leslie Blodgett, master mind behind Bare Escentuals, is in the process of creating a number of perfumes to represent scent memories. They are being created as limited editions exclusively for Sephora.

Bare Skin
The first is Bare Skin, her beach scent, reminiscent of sand and sun. A little bit suntan lotiony. 1.7 oz edp available for $55; Solid Perfume is $35; 4.2 oz Body Cream is $30.

Notes:
Top: Black Pepper, Freesia, Anise (No clock in sight and no reason to wake up)
Middle: Iris, Vanilla Orchid, Plumeria, Patchouli (Hot, hot hopping to the towel on sand)
Bottom: Sandalwood, Labdanum, Musk (Finally, time to mingle, baring amber shoulders still warm from the day.)

What it’s like on me
When I first apply it, I get a little bit of mint in it. I like this stage.

Every time I wear it, it ends up at a different place. One time at the end, it was vaguely reminiscent of the dry down of Angel. But that was only once.

Tonight, the end point is straight black pepper (which I generally like) and musks (which I’m not crazy about.)

How does it compare to JLO’s Miami Glow

Miami Glow is the favorite beach scent of many. It’s a little harder to find now, but not impossible, and seems to come out in gift sets around the holidays. On me, Miami Glow ends up being plastic, though I like the beginning a lot.

Miami Glow Notes: pink grapefruit, coconut water, passion fruit, blackcurrant, orange flower, heliotrope, cyclamen, sheer amber, crystal musk, vanilla orchid and blond musk.

I prefer Bare Skin to Miami Glow. But if Miami Glow is already your favorite, you would have to see if this works on you or not.

My take
I’m going to pass on this one, because I can’t predict where the ending is on me, and frankly sometimes it doesn’t work.

I’m hopeful that one of her other scents will be more of a match for me.

I’m tempted if I want a real beach scent to wear Bain de Soleil, if I could still find it, and if it came in a form that was less greasy and not as orange, but still had the same scent. If you have ever worn Bain de Soleil, you know immediately what it smells like. Loved that scent!

Have you tried this one?
What do you think?
