Rescue dog, for EM

EM, did you see this article that was in our paper yesterday? [EM rescues dogs herself, so I thought she would like this article where the dog rescues the woman.]

A woman injured in an auto accident (Thomasville, GA)...her car goes down a ravine and she is thrown onto her trunk.

"I was bleeding from my face and my nose. All of a sudden, I felt a presence -- a really huge presence. He was straddling me. I have watched too many horror movies about werewolves and vampires. I thought he was going to eat me." (Shannon Lorin, 36)

Gosh, that made me laugh. She had watched too many horror movies. I'd be more afraid of a two legged variety, unless it were a bear. But I could only imagine how terrified she must have been, especially since I have a friend who is so petrified of dogs, she might wish it were something else. He's a 2 yr old, 70 lb German Shepherd.

"Instead, the dog licked her face and locked his jaws on her shirt collar, she said. He dragged her off the car and kept pulling until she was near the edge of a highway. [where he let her lean on him in order to stand]."

He's now called Hero. His original owners have signed him over to the Humane Society because he kept wandering off. He will move in with Heidy Drawdy and may become a certified search and rescue dog, after obedience training.
