Remind someone

Today, remind someone how vital it is that they are at home with you. If they live away, tell them how important it is that they have a home in your heart. Helen Ramsey

There is always space in our heart for those we love. I tell my kids that all the time.

My next door neighbor mentioned tonight that he would like to try to find a man he served with when he was young, but for the moment, he’s lost touch with him.

I know for myself there are some people that have a home in my heart whether I ever find or contact them or not. Some people are every bit as close, if not closer, than family, no matter where they live.

I am Mom to more than my children. You can’t make it happen, but when it does, it is a gift from above. That is so serendipitous to me. Several ’sons’ of the heart were exchange students who lived with us. One local ‘daughter’ of the heart has lived with us more than once when her dad was working away and often spends weekends with us. I doubt I’d ever adopt a 16 or 17 year old, but these kids all came to me at that age and are as close as if they were family.

I told more than one person this year that they have a home in my heart. I was surprised to find the expression in a quotation.

I’ve been blessed to have been found a couple of times this past year. One was a friend from junior high. One was a friend from college years. More, if you count ones from high school. It is good to reconnect with those who are meaningful to us.

Is there someone you’ve been thinking about and wanting to know where they are or what they are doing? Maybe you too will find them or be found.

Have you been found?
