Continuing to sniff my way through the samples passed to me by a generous POLer.

Chia by Farmacia SS. Annunziata dal 1561 is available from Lucky Scent $120 for 100 ml or $3 for . 7 ml.

Notes: almond, orange, rose, candyfloss, hazelnut, vanilla, amber, musk

Like The Empresses of Japan, this one is sweet, but it is softer and a tad less sweet. I love almond in a fragrance, and this is no exception, but the almond is hidden, it is not in the forefront. You have to wait for it to develop under the rose.

I suppose you could label this gourmand, but then again, when I think of gourmand, I don't think of rose (though they are edible) and often in a perfume, there is chocolate. But there is no chocolate in this.

As it sits, I begin to smell the orange and the almond.

Under it all is vanilla and amber, but less amber than vanilla.

I prefer this to The Empresses of Japan, because of the almond. And it is a little less sweet.

As it develops, I begin to think of a lovely almond cake that I make occasionally for the holidays. Recipe to follow in a separate post.

How about you?
Do you wear either of these? Did you prefer one over the other? And is the almond predominant on you?
