A friend and I went to see this movie tonight using our free tickets. You don’t get deals like that very often!
The theatre was quite crowded. I don’t know how many were using free tickets as we were.
We thought it was inspiring and moving. I’m taking my 9 and 11 year olds to it tomorrow. [Update: my girls loved it; so did dh, who spontaneously said later in the evening how much he had enjoyed it, especially since it was free, LOL.) Everyone in the theatre seemed to like it. College Girl said some left the theater early during their showing. It is a New Agey, metaphysical type. Whether Socrates represents an angel or his inner thoughts…I suppose that might be off-putting to someone who didn’t know what to expect when they went.
It’s kinda interesting to me that I would post On Words earlier today and then see this movie tonight, about the words in our minds. I have not read the book, but I’m going to.
“Powerful and moving.”

— Tony Robbins, Author/Motivational SpeakerA moving tale about the power of the human spirit, Peaceful Warrior is based on Dan Millman’s perennially best-selling autobiographical novel, Way of the Peaceful Warrior: A Book That Changes Lives
. In the film, Scott Mechlowicz plays Dan, a talented-yet-arrogant college gymnast with Olympic dreams and a golden future. The athlete thinks he has it all: bookcases of trophies, endless friends, fast rides and disposable relationships. But all that is about to change.
One day, Dan’s world is turned upside down after a chance meeting with a mysterious stranger he comes to know as Socrates (Nick Nolte) — a man who holds the power to tap into new worlds of strength and understanding. After he suffers a debilitating injury, with the mystical help of Socrates and an elusive young woman named Joy (Amy Smart), Dan will grow to realize that strength of spirit is what leads a man to his true greatness.
