Paul Blart: Mall Cop

in Just thinking

I saw this movie this past week. We chose it because we were in the mood for a comedy.

This movie is very uneven. If you could skip the first half of the movie and move right into the time when Kevin James defeats the mall terrorists, it would be a fine movie.

The first half, setting it up, is very slow, and one scene in particular is painfully long, when he is drunk in a bar (he doesn't drink usually.) However, he does not vomit, which is a very good thing.

I happen to like Kevin James. He can go from nerdy to hot in 24 seconds, unlike most men who are either one or the other. That is a tribute to his acting ability. I tend to think he is likely hot in real life.

But we get it already! Move on to the hot stuff.

Jamie Mays plays his would-be girl friend who works in the mall. She looks like a young Goldie Hawn, and I'd love to see her in more things. She has the same innocence as GH in this movie and smile.

I didn't foresee one of the events in the movie.

If you want to applaud the good guy, go see this movie. Stay through the credits because more happens in photos there.

Go out for popcorn during the first half, after you watch the previews.

I give it a 3 star for the second half and a 1/2 star for the first half.

I am “watching” more movies than I could possibly do through your eyes. :-)

A young Goldie Hawn sounds like a nice addition in an era that pushes so many 13 year olds pushing 30. (although is this cornered by her own cute daughter?)

Yes, Goldie’s daughter is very beautiful. She is her own star.

I just liked the way Jamie Mays reminded me of Goldie during her Laugh-in days.

We saw a couple of good DVDs last night. I’ll be commenting on them soon.
