Love this mascara!
And I have a lot of mascara that I basically rotate depending on how I feel. I don't throw them out either. If they work still, they work. I've even been known to add some water to the wand to revive one. But sometimes that leads to flaking.
There are some that I have trouble wearing as I am allergic to it. My adjacent skin turns red and irritated. This is true for many of the Estee Lauder mascaras for me, though my sister can wear EL mascara with no problem.
I asked at Walgreens if they had had any feedback on this mascara, and no they hadn't. Then I asked at CVS. The woman there was emphatic that it was wonderful, and it was all she used now, but didn't wear it to work. I can't understand not wearing makeup to work, when you are in charge of the makeup department. Hello! but she is very knowledgeable was into helping me. I like to ask her what's up when she's around.
So I decided to try it. My first application: I wasn't too sure until I went back to my tried and true method.
My method:
I apply mascara to my top lashes before I finish my eye makeup. On the top: I apply using the tip, then I use the whole wand to make sure it isn't too clumpy. I want to look like I have mascara on, but I don't want to look like Tammy Faye did.
On the bottom:
I apply any liner to the bottom before doing those lashes with mascara. I use a smaller brush for the bottom lashes -- perhaps a mini Lancome. I generally do not use the same mascara for the bottom as the top, except when I use the Guerlain one that has a combined package with a mini mini brush for the bottom.
This mascara doesn't clump. But I found if I used only the wand, my lashes didn't have as much definition as I wanted (read: mascara.) Using the wand took too many applications to build up so I could see it.
It leaves your lashes longer and more defined than most mascara. The closest I have to it right now is the new Lancome mascara that vibrates. I'll give a review on that too, the next time I wear it.
Not to mention that the packaging makes me happy to use. I might just reach for it more than the others for this simple, very clever idea.
I bought Very Black.
Have you tried it? Do you like it?

5 no clumps

5 no flakes or undereye smudges as the day goes on
5 more light weight and clean feeling than any other mascara I've
tried, but you can tell you have mascara on
