Or des Indes is one of my favorite perfumes. It translates to gold from India or Indian gold. When I wear it, I think of the gold threads shot through an especially rich-colored sari. Like that sari, it is rich and opulent, heady and resonant, taking me on travels to exotic lands, warm and colorful.
The funny thing is that I can't remember what it smells like in my mind's eye (nose) between times when I am wearing it. It is fairly new to me, in this past year or so, but it is also different than anything else I wear, so I don't worry that I can't quite remember it.
I only know that when I want to wear something a bit different, out of the ordinary from what I usually wear, I reach for this.
It washes over me with both comfort and pizazz.
It has been said to be reminiscent of a kind of compromise between Shalimar and L'heure blue. It does go through a quick note with a bit of Shalimar on the breeze, but to and on me, it leans a bit more toward the LHB. I don't wear LHB well, but the additions here, make it completely wearable and FBW.
It comes down to a powdery essence, but not the kind that is cloying. It is nicely balanced with a metallic note, even as the gold in the name.
The notes are said to include amber, vanilla, opoponax, bergamot, geranium, lavender, and sandalwood. It is quite woody in flavor. I don't catch any lavender except in passing, or so well blended it doesn't jump out and take over.
I am enjoying it today, as always.
You can order a Sampler Vial or 3.3 oz
. If you click on the latter, you see that it is on sale, not the price that you see in the little popup.
I like the heft of the bottle that is the unique bottle for MPG parfums.
For edt, it has great staying power. I can smell it all day, but I don't get tired of it, because it is different. There is a continual sort of movement in it. The longer I wear it, the better it smells, and every moment is very good.
Do you have it? do you love it as much as I do? (If not, let me know what you want for your partial bottle, LOL! as I'm gonna need one down the road.)
