I find I'm really enjoying the SCA hyaluronic plumping pen. I should have been using it for months -- that's how long I've had it since a friend gave it to me.

It has a lovely shimmer -- not frost -- to it. I suspect it is that look that makes lips seem plumper. I don't notice plumping particularly, and there isn't any sensation of sting.

Applied first, you let it dry (which is a misnomer because it isn't drying.) Then apply whatever lip product you want on top -- with this shimmer coming through to some degree.

Afterwards I applied the lip pencil around the rim of my lips and feathered it inside a bit.

Interestingly enough I've found several articles that mention if you want to look older, apply lip pencil heavily. If you want a younger look, be careful how much lip pencil you use and how you apply it. I've found that out simply by what look I prefer on myself.

As I said, against my better judgment, I bought this lip pencil -- I have way too many pencils, especially if I no longer use them like I once did.

OTOH, I thought this looked really nice. So perhaps it is time to break out the pencils again and update my looks with them. Stay tuned!

Do you use lip pencils?
They can be used to change the color of a lipstick, to define your lips (change the shape if necessary), or to contrast (which is my least favorite look -- I try never to do that.)

Yes, I use pencils. I’m picky though. They can’t feather or be waxy or what have you, they have to be really good quality. As I age, my natural lip line is fading and getting blurry, and if I don’t use a pencil, my lipstick or gloss application tends to be off because of this.

I don’t notice that pencils make my lipstick last longer, and they don’t stop feathering. Only the clear (like DuWop) stops feathering — and rimming with gloss is a big help too. I’ve debated about finding a pencil that matches my natural lip color and using it with everything. I might do a search in my stash tomorrow.
