LOTD Creating a vibrant, deep lippie MK Benefit Armani

It’s very easy to tweak your lipstick to get the result you desire. If you would like a deep color, but perhaps it feels too dark for daytime or for your skin tone, you can bring the depth down. And conversely you could also deepen a color that is too light, by using this same technique.

Interestingly to me, Arbonne recommends using multiple lip colors, the only company I know that recommends this in quite the same way, which I have done for years simply because I have a variety on hand. You can also use lip pencils. I didn’t today.

On any given day I pick a technique from my repertoire depending on what I feel like doing or how the color appears to me when I first apply it to one lip.

I prefer to do the colors right from the tube(s), as much as possible, vs. using a lip brush. I use a lip brush if I am going to be rimming the outside with gloss (which I didn’t do today) or if I’m sharpening the outside line if I feel it needs it.

Technique:
Top Lip: MK Rich Fig — this is a deep, purplish red
Middle of Bottom Lip: Armani # 8 Lip Shimmer (gloss) (shimmery pale rosy purple)
Outer corners of bottom Lip: Benefit Make Nice

Smooshed lips together to make the new color. You can see how light picks up the gloss that is centered in the middle of the lips.

I prefer to use the deepest color on the top lip, usually, because having a lighter color on the bottom gives the optical illusion of more fullness.

When doing the lips with this technique, a big plus for me is the fact that none of the tubes get messed up with the other colors. There’s no necessity to clean the tube so you start with virgin color the next time.
