What parts of the book did you find interesting? believable? scary? did you like what happens to the characters, the one(s) who die/don't die? how about the epilogue?

I was very glad that none of the trio dies. I would not have been happy to lose Harry, Ron or Hermione. I would have felt cheated.
I still would rather have seen Harry with someone besides Ginny, though hearing it read (the 6th book) by Jim Dale made that romance a little more believable than reading it with the voice in my head.
And what about Snape?
I was soo relieved that none of the trio died (esp after she killed one of my favourite characters Sirius- I was preparing myself for the worst)..the part that got me really teary eyed was the bit when Harry was going to sacrifice himself..aww
I didnt mind Harry ending up with Ginny..she sounded right for him in my head..:) I wish she *had* given us more in the epilogue- I loved the Albus Severus bit..but then I always felt Snape was good..*grin * but I wish there had been a mention of Luna in the epilogue too.
I found the bit with Vodemort placing the sorting hat on Neville’s head a bit contrived- I mean we know that he need the sword to finish off nagini..
Phew! that was a loong comment..but I really loved the book and its fun to discuss it with somebody else who did ( 2 of my friends who read the book didnt like it..:()
i meant needed the sword..(the typos I make..*rolls eyes*)
How could they not like the book? What did they want to happen?
I’m so glad Neville came into his own. And that he didn’t die. Remember in the earlier book when he couldn’t move, what a cute little dorky kid he was! And here he takes decisive action. Whoo hooo!!
I wanted Harry to end up with Hermione. College Girl had hoped for Luna, if not Hermione.
One of the college kids here said he could hardly wait for the movie. He thinks it will be great. (I, of course, wonder how they will age them 19 years.)
if you liked Harry you might also like Philip Pullman’s series “his dark materials.” Lots of spiritual themes. but I did find these books to be a lot more scarey than Harry. I saw a trailer for the first book when I went to see the most recent HP movie.
wanda
I never heard of that series. I’ll go hunting up some info.
I thought the epilogue was the worst way to end the series. I would have been happier without it and thought that the book was phenomenal, but no, the ending came in the form of a sucktastic literary flop to end all flops! I have more questions then answers.
For instance:
What ever happened to Luna?
Was Neville married?
Who was Draco’s wife?
Who exhibited magic later in life?
(I believe now from listening to the book on CD that it might be Ted Tonks–reread the part right after Harry falls into the lake and his wand spins and shoots a golden spell at Voldemort).
What were James and Lily Potter’s jobs?
What did Dudley see when the Dementors attacked? Why did the Dursleys suddenly believe Harry that it was Dementors and not him attacking Diddykins?
When did Lily start to feel different toward James?
The whole Snape/Lily thing felt like a badly done fanfic (fan written story that deals with the world JKR created but not necessarily follows) in my opinion. There wasn’t enough substance to back it up.
What was the ‘anything’ Dumbledore asked for from Snape? Spying? I would rather not assume because Dumbledore’s manipulating ways are new to the series— if not the fandom world. Sure 11 yr old Harry thought Albus let him get through the traps guarding the stone but we were never explicitly told.
What happened to the hallow stone/ring–did it just stay in the Forbidden Forest or did say a centaur pick it up? Though I do find it interesting that the hallow Harry wanted most is the one he leaves forgotten in the forest. He still has the cloak and the wand (though it says he’s putting it back in Dumbledore’s tomb–did he end up doing it?)
Was that creepy critter in the “Kings Cross” the fraction of Voldemort’s soul? How did Harry’s perfectly whole soul really come into this?
How did Harry and (ugh) Ginny get back together?
(I swear she decided to write them together to make one big happy Weasley family and not because they actually go well romantically together– Luna or Hermione would have been much better.)
Of course Ted Lupin would be staying with the Potters because Harry’s his godfather so why was that worthy of commenting on— who’s daughter is Victoire– Harry/Ginny or Ron/Hermione? Bill/Fleur?
What are the trios jobs in life?
How did the trials of those captured as DEs go? How did Draco get away from going to prison? What about his parents?
Who’s the new Minister of Magic?
Who’s running Hogwarts?
Who else died that night?
What was done with the Chamber of Secrets? The room of requirement—is it no longer functioning?
Is Harry still a Parseltmouth?
Is Stan Shunpike okay?
etc. etc. etc.
So much is left unexplained. I’m disappointed in the wrap up. The book was good but she dropped the ball at the end.

Or Ollivander— what happened to him? Who makes wands in Britain now? In Germany with Gregorovich retired?
Krum?
Xenophilia Lovegood and other innocents sent to Azkaban?
Umbridge does she live at large or live freely or is she dead?
What has Harry’s influence been in the wizarding world after his defeat of Voldemort? He was written like he was normal but I hardly feel with all the fanaticism and pandering that happened to Dumbledore after Grindwald’s defeat that Harry would simply be left alone or his word or approval not solicited for?
So I found out from an interview with JKR the following:
Harry and Ron joined the Aurors and revolunized the place.
Harry sometimes gives lectures at Hogwarts.
Neville and Luna are not together.
Luna is alive and off somewhere searching for strange creatures.
Hermione joined Magical Law Enforcement despite her sneering at the Minister about not doing it.
Victoire is Bill and Fleur’s eldest.
Harry and Ginny had three kids.
McGonagall is not the Headmistress of Hogwarts.
There’s a new stable Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. The curse has been lifted.
I forget if there was more.
I wonder what else she had to say? Maybe we’ll find the interview online?
