I wonder if you'd love the Arbonne 2 step mascara. It is the opposite of using Lancome Cils first (white) then mascara. (Cils is in a wand by itself, not a double sided wand.) First you apply the mascara side, then you apply a clear coat that is supposed to be shiny and protective. I don't notice that it is shiny, but I like it and it doesn't smudge. I agree with you on waterproof. I don't wear it for the same reason. I only would wear it if I were going to swim and wanted to wear mascara. I think sometimes it is the mascara (not when I use Arbonne) that bothers me, or the mascara in combination with especially sparkly mineral shadows (which I love!) It seems to help, and that way I don't have to wear waterproof all the time (seems to cause more lash loss and is harder to remove). I really hate when my mascara smudges or flakes or whatever.
