I wore these shadow colors yesterday, because I was wearing a wonderful lime green skirt with amethyst accents. I liked it so well, I wanted to wear the colors again, and since I didn’t take pictures yesterday, I thought I’d show you the idea today. All I did was add
Sephora #10 gloss + YSL 12 sparkling brilliance
to whatever was left of the AL lippie (Karma.)
The Sephora is a gorgeous plum with gold sparks. I don’t like the taste, which is pure grape soda. It does leave though. I don’t know if the other glosses taste or smell the same, as this is the only one I own. Do they? I thought maybe it smelled like grape because it looks grape. 5 for the gloss; 1 for taste
The YSL is a sparkly plum, a bit on the warm side, at least the opaque wand makes it look like that.
The one earring is a gorgeous one from Bookgirl. (Inky Productions).(Jonquil which means desire.) The other is one I beaded (carved turquoise.)

Chanel Les Quatre eye shadow Sublimes: Marine, Beige Rose, Granite, Clear Blue
I rarely use this set, but I should use it more often. I originally bought it because I didn’t have anything in this color family. All my blues were more of a normal blue.
This set leans toward teal. If you make an X, the upper right and lower left are both light shades, though I’ve never worn them alone, say, for day. Thinking about it, I wonder why, and want to do it sometime soon.
The opposite line, are two darks, very dark and extremely dark. One looks black-blue; the other looks black-black-blue. They would be very dramatic if used for evening — or even to achieve a goth look.
You can see where I laid the lines. I used the lighter of the two dark blues to dryline the bottom. The darkest to dryline the top.
Arbonne mascara, 2 step. La Prairie brow pencil. Dior skinflash concealer with a touch of Arbonne in the outer corners.
Chanel foundation; my sparkly powder mix, followed by BE mineral veil sort of like a bronzer.
Highlight: Benefit Georgia
Blush: YSL # 19, also used as a bronzer
Lips: NYX Aphrodite + rimmed with Beauté Paramour (and a touch in the center.)

I reworked my eyes, I thought, from the day I wore Burnt Roses in the crease to show it is possible to get it softer. See it here. I see that I reversed the colors on the lids, so it’s not exactly the same.
Crease: AL Burnt Roses
Outer corners and drylined under the eyes: Strawberry Despair
Inner Corners: Persephone
Lined upper and lower with Black Cherry gel liner, using the back end of a liner brush.
Concealer: YSL Eclat
Sunscreen: Neutrogena.
Primer: Sheer Cover Foundation, Glow (used up the center of my face), Blush (on cheekbones): all L’Oreal minerals Rouge: NARS Riviera stick Powder: my sparkly mix, that’s all; I did not use the Hyaluronic today. My take:
L’Oreal went on well; I like the colors. A few hours later it drifted into the pores of my nose and I had to fix it by rubbing it off. That is not unusual for me which is why I generally do not put anything on my nose at all. I think it looks better naked than with little light dots on it, LOL!
I used my Lancome mineral foundation brush to apply the foundation with. I just love, love, love that brush!
Lips: NYX Lips B 52, a warm pink brown, darker on than I expected from the tube.
Here’s the picture of the day I didn’t like the crease:

Last week I was out and about. I had put on one squirt of edp about 5 hours earlier.
I couldn’t smell it at all.
The woman I had gone to see raved about my perfume, that she just loved it. She wanted to buy it for herself. I asked her if it was too strong?? because usually no one but me can smell my fragrances. I’m very careful because both a friend and a family member are sensitive.
No, it was perfect, she said.
After that, I went to the mall because I was a short distance away. While there, I made a circuit of the perfumes, as usual, and the SA smelled wonderful! When she walked in front of me, the most delicious fragrance wafted toward me. It was lovely, not too strong. I liked it!
I asked her what perfume she was wearing. She said they were no longer carrying it. She had just moved the stock to the back room. (Turns out, all the local stores are not going to carry it. It is discounted at Perfumania, which just opened in our mall.)
She was wearing the same thing I was wearing! No wonder my friend had thought I’d smelled good, if I smelled as good as she did! I thought that was so funny!
Here’s one a little more racy for Elle Shocking, the edt:
My take The bottle is beautiful.
Some days I really like this on me; other days, I’m not sure. It might be the weather. Right now it is moderately hot here.
This is not a sweet rose, nor is it quite a dirty rose either. It is an interesting rose, kept from being too sweet by the patchouli. And the funny thing is, laughing at myself here, there isn’t any rose in it!
Maybe it’s the color of the juice. Or maybe it’s that it’s a grownup fragrance, not one that follows the sweet perfume trends.
This compliment makes me want to search out the flankers: Elle Summer and Elle Intense, if they can even be found. Those both have raspberry in them.
Found them:
The notes include ginger, tangerine, pink pepper, peony, freesia, raspberry, musk, patchouli and vetiver.
~~~~
The fragrance notes include raspberry, litschi, jasmine, iris, benzoin, patchouli and amber.
~~~~ What do you think?
Have you tried this one? Do you wear it? Have you worn or smelled the flankers? Can you enable me, or not?

Here’s my look today: From the left side of the palette:
This brown is more taupe, but you can still see a hint of red in it. I like red alone; or I like more taupe browns or grayed.
I wanted to see how green looked with it, as I had used blue with the Tendresse Palette, and hadn’t tried green with either of them. I chose to do a green Chanel eye pencil. I like green with it, better than brown as the liner.
Primer: Laura Mercier Foundation: Chanel Lift Lumiere with Guerlain Meteorites Primer over it Concealer: YSL Touch Ecat Mascara: Guerlain Maxi Lash
Mascara or not on my lower lashes?
This morning I showed my eyes without mascara on the lower lashes to my 13 yo. She preferred me with mascara, so I did the lower the lashes.
For today, I agree. Some days, I think I can get away without wearing it. But Book Girl likes my eyes better with mascara on my lower lashes too. My lower lashes are clear they are so fine and light. You don’t see them at all without mascara.

Flora Gucci is a wonderful new fragrance, consisting of
notes of citrus, peony, rose, osmanthus, sandalwood and patchouli
To me, it is a sort of cross between The One and Elle.
It is softer than The One, and a little less patchouli than Elle. But the patchouli in it, I’m sure, cuts the sweetness of the other floral accents, as does the citrus.
On me, the notes that are predominate are rose and citrus. The citrus puts it squarely in the younger group of consumers that Gucci is hoping to entice. It also makes it wearable for me, as I have trouble with roses being scrubbers.
Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, says that
Flora is lighter, the floral scent of course evokes a younger consumer, and she has a hedonistic, daring side. I don’t want to say that Flora is the daughter of Gucci by Gucci but maybe the younger sister.
Flora is probably a second cousin twice removed from Gucci by Gucci, which is far more straight up sweet patchouli.
I even get a subtle memory of Bulgari Femme.
Meantime, in the midst of cold weather, wearing this fragrance, it feels as if a cool breeze is bringing the scents of spring. The fragrance is perfectly balanced. It stays true all day, though it is nice to refresh it. It doesn’t have a lot of movement. Rather, the notes appear together in soft brightness, just as a spring day.

I’m a day late in reporting what works when I wear fragrances, since the past two days I’ve reported what I wore the day before not the day of.
I like to layer up my fragrances, starting with one thing in the morning and generally layering to something different as that wears down, and so on until evening. I’m limited by how quickly what I wear dissipates. But that way I can respond to the time of day or my moods or a change of clothes, or whatever.
I’ve hit on some favorites simply by trial and error — one of which is Chanel No 5 with Coco. I now have a mix (1/2 and 1/2) in a spray bottle.
More recently the combination of NU By YVES SAINTLAURENT edp with Shalimar By Guerlain edp was mentioned at POL. Since I had both and rarely wear Shalimar, I thought it would be worth a shot. As you can see the notes are different for Nu edp vs. edt. You can find it quite reasonably. The edp is deeper and richer with more spices and woods. The edt is brighter, but just as long lasting. I’ve tried layering with both. It’s a softer layer with the edp. It is sharper with the edt.
I find the Nu is more dominant than the Shalimar, but the Shalimar warms up the Nu in either form. I think I prefer the layering to either of the single fragrances. At least it is newer feeling, pun intended.
The first time I tried this, I used the edp version of Nu, and I loved it. It was rich and warm. Yesterday, I used the edt version of Nu and it was very incensy. The incense dominated but it was softened by all the other notes. I think this will be one of my favorite ways to enjoy incense. More on that subject later. If you wish to see other things about incense, check out the posts that Helg posted around Easter. And if I’m in an incense sort of mood later, I might report some also.
I ended up layering into a sample of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid last night and that is incense that will knock you off your feet. I want to try comparing that to Le Baiser du Dragon. Maybe later today or next week. Either are a definitely later in the day sort of fragrance, at least now in spring.
