FOTD Thursday Chanel eyes +

Chanel Les Quatre eye shadow Sublimes: Marine, Beige Rose, Granite, Clear Blue
I rarely use this set, but I should use it more often. I originally bought it because I didn’t have anything in this color family. All my blues were more of a normal blue.

This set leans toward teal. If you make an X, the upper right and lower left are both light shades, though I’ve never worn them alone, say, for day. Thinking about it, I wonder why, and want to do it sometime soon.

The opposite line, are two darks, very dark and extremely dark. One looks black-blue; the other looks black-black-blue. They would be very dramatic if used for evening — or even to achieve a goth look.

You can see where I laid the lines. I used the lighter of the two dark blues to dryline the bottom. The darkest to dryline the top.

Arbonne mascara, 2 step. La Prairie brow pencil. Dior skinflash concealer with a touch of Arbonne in the outer corners.

Chanel foundation; my sparkly powder mix, followed by BE mineral veil sort of like a bronzer.

Photobucket

Highlight: Benefit Georgia
Blush: YSL # 19, also used as a bronzer

Photobucket

Lips: NYX Aphrodite + rimmed with Beauté Paramour (and a touch in the center.)

What do you think?

FOTD Friday Dior eyes +

I wanted to use the Dior 902 quint again. This time alone.

The colors are:
Top: Brownish purple, light-medium beige; lower: deep peacock green, medium brown (they say gilded brown); middle: violet magenta.

You can pretty well tell where I put the colors. I drylined the top with the green. I drylined the lower with magenta. Arbonne concealer and mascara. La Prairie brow pencil.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I’m sorry that I don’t remember today what the other colors were for lips or cheeks.

I liked this when I was done and wondered why I hadn’t used it in so long!

FOTD AL Eyes + NYX Lips +

I felt like bright turquoise today, and that made me think immediately of the colors that Aromaleigh has.

Eyes: all Aromaleigh, except where noted:
Crease: caribe, pure hue
Outer corners: aqua nightmare, gothic lolita
Inner corners: endless sea, rocks! sonic eyes
Drylined upper and lower: moonagedaydream, rocks! sonic eyes
Tight Lined upper and wet lined lower: Jordana Sterling Blue
Brows: Clinique soft blonde pencil
Mascara: Guerlain Le2 (double sided with small brush for lower lashes)

Photobucket

Foundation: Lancome minerals — still trying to figure out how — and how much — to use; see how funky my nose looks here? I saw it in sunlight and took care of it. Generally I leave everything off my nose for this reason.
Powder: Lancome minerals
Highlight: AL magnolia blossom
Blush: AL english rose (a powder, not a blush, that didn’t show up, so used it across my face, lightly)
Blush: Meow Masterpiece Water Lilies

Photobucket

Lips:
NYX Lips Hebe — this one doesn’t migrate. It’s got a lovely sheen to it, doesn’t feel slippery — and it doesn’t move into liplines around the mouth.

Quatre Irreels with some Quatre Ors Violines to line. (Both are from other seasons.)
Clarins Midnight Flash to line top and lower. Then Jordana waterproof Luna Lavender
Mascara top: Lancome Oscillating; lower: Tarte
Brows: La Prairie pencil
Concealer: Dior Skinflash
Powder: my sparkly mix + BE Mineral Veil as a bronzer
Blush: MAC Moon River + BE Beauty

Lipstick: NYX Love Angel, from the amazingly cheap haul —
My take: this was a very pretty color and not one I would have bought if it weren’t in the package. So getting the package gives new colors to try. I simply reapplied this one throughout the day. If you notice, it seems to separate at the lines, but smooshing it smooths it down again. I’m not sure why it does that. It has a slight taste and smell that is not objectionable.

Photobucket

I thought this was a soft, pretty look. It’s not a look I wear very often, but it bears repeating. It was quite nice.

FOTD Arbonne Smoky eye + Clinique lip +

I wanted to try applying the Arbonne colors in the manner shown in the catalog for the Smoky Eye look, so I decided to do the colors again today. Mascara: Arbonne, 2 in 1
Concealer: Yes, forget which

Powder: Guerlain meteorites, then Lancome pwder fdn on my nose, then my sparkly mix over all because it looked too matte

Lip: Clinique Goodness Grapecious Vitamin C lip smoothie + Gleam gloss + Silver sparkly gloss mixed with blush shine Mixed a bit with my finger, then whatever was on my finger put on my cheeks.

Photobucket

I’m not sure why it looks like there is a line with no color in it. That doesn’t show in RL.

Photobucket

What do you think?

When I work with colors this dark, I need to be very careful as I’m more fair than I look. That is one reason why I never use a darker eyeshadow base to intensify colors. The colors are intense enough already on me. I like the look a lot. Tomorrow I will start with a softer sparkly base before I begin. Stay tuned!

FOTD Audrey/Smokey Eyes + bare lips

I already received one compliment on this look today. Yippee!

I wanted to try the Arbonne looks, while not having the Arbonne colors. You know how that goes! And this picture shows you how important it is to have colors that don’t smudge. One or both of either of these products smudged: Smolder MAC pencil liner or BE graphite. Neither one of these was applied wet, but they migrated instantly. Fortunately when I blink my eyes, you can’t see it. I did blend it out a bit after this picture, but it is not perfect. And I want it to be perfect.

I was working with a BE set Renegade Chic that I like that came with two shadows, a blush, 2 brushes, and a gloss. As you can see, it’s a very nice neutral set, which I thought I could play with to get a combo of the two Arbonne looks.

Eyes:
What’s surprising is that these colors are definitely gray, but they pull blue-teal when seen with my shirt and photographed.
Base: Nude Frost
Lids: BE Dove + Graphite

Tight Lined top and lower: see above –
Smolder Blended out with: MAC brush # 219 which is how the MUA had blended out the pencil liner
Sparkle lined over other liner, top AL Prettyplease (charcoal golden shimmer)
and lower: AL Shakeitup (golden copper) — love, love, love these two colors — couldn’t decided which to use so I used both…
Mascara: Lancome oscillating
Brows: Chanel blond-taupe pencil
Concealer: Dior skinflash
Nose: MAC Concealer, blended out with triangle sponge

Photobucket

Primer: Arbonne
Foundation: Arbonne FYI Light
tinted moisturizer
Rouge: MK stick
Powder: Guerlain
meteorites
Blush: BE Rose Radiance (from set) real pretty color!

Photobucket

Lips: Arbonne Tickled + Bikini + rimmed with BE rose radiance gloss (from set) — see more info at lotd post.

What are you wearing today?
I just love it when a set is as pretty as this one, and as the Arbonne. I can’t wait to get my order in!

FOTD Sheer Cover eyes + Guerlain lips

This was yesterday’s FOTD. A friend gave me more Sheer Cover, including another palette of these eye shadows. I remember how much I loved the look earlier, they are a lovely natural look (the palette has both cool and warm shades.) This is the cool. I wanted to try out the new eye shape again to see how it fared with this palette. I’m not used to such natural looks!

Another 5 min makeup. It was quick and easy and summery. It was a little hard to get the eye shape to define because the colors are so natural.

I used MK mascara and for some reason it drifted. That usually doesn’t happen. It seemed smudgy all day.
Base: Beauticontrol pink cream
Liner: MAC white tightlined top and wetlined bottom. Avon Gilded Grapepencil lined under eye — almost a brown. MAC Smolder pencil — blackest black — lined on top.
Brows: Chanel duo powder.
Concealer: YSL Touch Eclat

Photobucket

Primer: Sheer Cover
Foundation: Lancome
minerals (and their powder) on dry brush, then spritzed with Clinique Moisture Surge before applying. I like this application.
Blush: BE Vintage Peach + Meow Water Lilies
Highlight: Beauticontrol Pink
Powder (with shimmer) + AL Magnolia Blossom

Photobucket

Lips:
base: SCA hyaluronic pen
Guerlain 08 lined with Guerlain Rose Indien pencil

What did you do for makeup? Are you finding you want quick and easy for summer?

I promised myself on Sunday that I wouldn’t do anything on Monday as far as running around, because I’m still recovering (ha!) from the long trip, but I ended up getting my errands done for the week. Whoo hooo!

How about you?

FOTD Tuesday MAC Guerlain Lancome

I’ve been out of town and remiss about posting fotds — and even remiss in wearing makeup. When the day begins at 4:30 and I’m on a different time zone, all bets are off. I did get some makeovers, though, you notice!

Yesterday was my first day more or less back on schedule.

I had in mind I was going to try the new eye shape — and before you know it, my brush went and did just what it always does! I couldn’t believe it. But I did it today and have pictures to post later.

Base: MAC Luna — I like this because it has some shimmer
Eye colors came from a Lancome GWP, really pretty colors: off white, light shimmery pink (not sparkly), medium brown, charcoal-black with sparkles. Daylight (matte)Volcano (shimmer) Makeover (metallic)The New Black (metallic)
Dry Lined with the charcoal shade, followed by Guerlain Kohl powder in turquoise (you can see this really well in both full sized photos)
Mascara: Arbonne, 2 step
Brows: Anastasia Caramel (like mascara wand) + thin lined wet brow liner — I like both these products a lot.

Photobucket

Primer: Avon Magix
Foundation: Chanel on one side;Arbonne on the other
Rouge under powder: Revlon, discontinued
Powder: my sparkly mix + Chanel Rosee pressed powder as highlight all over, has slight sparkly
Blush: Chanel Rose Petal
Concealer: Dior skinflash under eye; MAC on nose, buffed out

Photobucket

Lips: This was a case of just layering up.
I broke my cardinal rule of no more lip pencils and also ended up with a Guerlain color that is more pink than I’d prefer, so I did a bit of doctoring to see how badly I’d messed up.
Guerlain 65 on top; Arbonne Whisper on bottom; smooshed; lined with Guerlain Rose Indien; topped with Revlon Play up Pink.

The Guerlain formula is lovely (and I bought a second color later that is more to my liking.)

FOTD Chanel Makeover

Wow, I really loved the shape of this eye. I have never had it done like this, and the trick will be if I can copy it.

Everything is Chanel unless noted. We used Sublimage serum and moisturizer and eye cream (over the Arbonne I had used earlier.) This was done at Neiman Marcus.

#16 Fall 2009 shadow – a quad with soft, medium and dark teals (the dark is shot with sparkle) and soft pink.

Pink done all over lid. Dark teal dry lining the lower lashes. Dark and Medium teal used to define shape and crease. The lightest teal was used in the inner corner. Then some grey over the inner corner to brighten even more.

Photobucket

Mascara: Chanel
Brow: Chanel Blond
pencil
Ivory Foundation — a little dark.
Concealer: Beige 10 (hard to read the writing) also used as shadow base (shadow has creased in one spot hours later)
Lined on top with a liquid wand.
Rosee pressed powder — what a great color, shot with teeny sparkles — I’m not sure how it compares with what I have at home. I think it is lighter. Both are pinks; both are Chanel. She also used this all around the outside of my eye and top and cheekbones to highlight.
Blush: Sienna from the Fall colors also.

Photobucket

Lips:
Guerlain #8 + Chanel Rosey pencil + Chanel Sundress
lipgloss
This looks nice in RL; looks too made up in the pix; but I still prefer a softer look using all the colors rather than so much product on my lips.
Photobucket

Photobucket

What do you think?

I’m definitely going to keep analyzing this eye today and try to copy it tomorrow. I like the eye a lot.

To buy Arbonne from Bookgirl, if you don’t have a representative, go here.

Thanks for looking!

Adieu Tattoo

I think this product has to qualify for product name of the year, if there is such a category for cosmetics.

Every time I see this name, it makes me smile. I think it is not the official name of the product, however, only used in advertising.

I have no idea how well it works, but it is part of Kat Von D’s, a tattoo artist’s, product line, so you would think that it would.

What it does:
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer is a creamy, blendable secret weapon that gives instant, customizable coverage. This oil- and paraben-free, long-wearing formula makes blemishes, dark circles, tattoos, and imperfections disappear. It is perfect for any occasion that calls for a flawless look. Kat says, “If you wanna hide a tattoo just for one day, the proper concealer can make that happen! No one has to see what you don’t want them to see!”

What else you need to know:
When it comes to temporary tattoo coverage, take your cues from the pro herself: “Weddings. Job interviews. Lazer treatment-phobia. Meeting your boyfriend’s parents for the first time. These are all good reasons why you might wanna cover up your tattoo. Just like with the rest of your makeup, you have the choice of being versatile and ever-evolving.” This is your ticket to tattoo freedom! Sephora

Dermablend is another product that is supposed to cover well, plus it has the advantage of being waterproof. (I don’t know if Adieu Tattoo is waterproof or not.)

Once you use the setting powder, it is waterproof.

And if you want coverage for your face, there are several choices of foundation color. Perhaps you remember the beautiful model whose face was slashed. She became a spokesperson for Dermablend. It covered beautifully.

Have you used either of these?
I have used Dermablend, but only as a foundation (on my neck.)

FOTD Mary Kay eyes + AL lips + Arbonne color

Mary Kay Look Book
I got the new Look Book which features new shades and so many pretty looks. I’ll say this for Mary Kay — their models and makeup looks are really fashionable. This time they had a page which could be cut in 1/4s with the picture on one side and the products on the other.

That inspired me to do one (or more) of the looks, but loosely interpreted, because while some of the looks looked as if they had used cool colors, they were really using warm colors as the base and crease which I knew would not look the same on me. And one where only Lilac was used, I know would not be defined enough for my eyes. That model was dark complected so it showed up on her skin.

I ended up combining three looks. And it was very fast once I got the idea.

Eyes:
Base: Beauticontrol Pink

Crease: MK Lilac — this is the one that didn’t show up the last time I used it — today I kept applying until I could see it.
Outer Corners and a bit in crease: Blue Metal I can wear these slate colors well.
Drylined top and bottom: combination of Iris and Sweet Plum
Mascara: Stiletto
Concealer: Dior Skinflash + Arbonne
Brows: Merle Norman
powder

Photobucket

Primer: Guerlain Meteorites
Foundation: Arbonne

My usual rouge and sparkly powder + Guerlains Meteorites powder for bronzer.
Blush: MK Petals (frosted) and Strawberry Cream (no frost) mixed together — I accidentally ordered SC — I was going to go back and forth from Petals and Shy Blush (both frosted) but it has worked well to mix. Sometimes it is serendipity — and not a mistake!
Highlight: Arbonne Promise mixed with Bashful along cheeks and across whole face lightly

Lips: AL Karma
such a pretty color!

FOTD Mary Kay eyes + Arbonne lips

Miranda inspired me to use the same MK colors that she had. Of course, I ended up tweaking it…I felt the sweet plum would be too dark and I’d accomplish the same look using Iris.

These would usually be colors I’d head back to for fall. But it made me feel cooler, even if the temps were way up there! I feel I’d like to revisit the MK summer collection again, with the turquoise and browns. Maybe tomorrow!

Eyes: All Mary Kay, except where noted
Base: Nude Frost (not MK)
Lids: Crystalline
, for some shimmer; then Dusty Lilac to get some purple, but it didn’t show up
Crease: Steel
Outer corners + some in crease: Iris
Drylined top and bottom: Sweet Plum

Mascara: Arbonne 2 step
Brows: Merle Norman powder

Photobucket

Primer: SCA;
Foundation: Arbonne
Rouge under powder: Chanel stick
Powder: my sparkly mix, then Guerlain meteorites as bronzer
Blush: MK Shy Blush
Highlight all over: Arbonne Promise (the darker shade of blush that I bought, not the one I usually use to highlight) — I wanted to pink it up some.
Concealer: Arbonne + Dior skinflash

Photobucket

Lips: Arbonne Copper Sheer and Shine, straight up, strongly, so I could show a picture
I know, it likely doesn’t go with lilac, but it does go with the plum which is a warm shade — and rules are made to be broken. Plus I knew I’d be using other lippies as the day went on.

FOTD AL eyes + Arbonne lips

I told Miranda yesterday that she inspired me to use AL mattes again, so here goes from the Carolina Summer collection.

Eyes:
I don’t find totally matte very flattering on me. So I had to put a touch of sparkle somewhere.
Base: Nude Frost
Lids: BE Queen Phyllis (had to have some sparkle)
Lids and crease: AL Dune followed by some AL Catteleya (that made it a bit pinker)
Crease and outer corners: AL Tide (what a pretty color!)
At this point everything looked matte, even with the Queen Phyllis, and I still wanted some spark to show.
Drylined top and lower: disintegration rocks! glam glitter (turquoise to be brighter)
Mascara: Arbonne 2 step
Concealer: YSL + Arbonne
Brows: La Prairie
pencil
Made me happy!

Photobucket

All the rest is my usual: Arbonne primer and foundation; Chanel stick rouge under my sparkly mix; Arbonne blush for cheeks and highlight.

Sunscreen is Arbonne spf 30 from the baby line.
I wondered how this would go under makeup. It did perfectly. It wasn’t too sheer/oily (like La Prairie is — I’m using that on my neck) and it didn’t roll, like some does under makeup. Arbonne’s regular sunscreen line has 15 spf. I’m not sure why that is. Their water resistant has 30 spf. I haven’t tried either of those, but I’ll tell you 15 spf would not cut it here. I’m using a 70; will go to 85 with my next bottle.

Lips:
a touch of Arbonne Copper (my lips were really tinted pink), then Arbonne On Point prep and plump to bring it pinker because of my shirt
