FOTD Meow eyes, NYX lips

I was happy with the way this turned out.

I spread out my Meow samples and thought what did I want to try:

Eyes:
Base: Nude Frost (there is some question as to whether this irritates me, but so far, so good today -- I gave it a rest, then tried again today) then my sparkly eye mix
Lid and Crease: Meow VandalEyes Misdemeanor (lime)
Crease and drylined top and lower: Meow VandalEyes Shoplifting (deep vibrant purple)

The lime is a little lighter and brighter than it photographed. You can see the glitter liner on the eye to your right.

Lined: Estee Lauder Plum Grey pencil (which turned out to be more grey than I remembered, so I went over the line and past the line with Meow)
Glitter lined over the top of liners: GirlActik Lavender -- gorgeous color, this line was my first foray into glitters, before AL Rocks! glitter
Mascara: (top, to your left) Mark Scandalash Indigo (purple)
Mascara : (top, to your right and lower lashes) Estee Lauder MagnaScopic purple
The EL is a tad darker.
Brows: La Prairie pencil

Finished look:

Primer: Smashbox Purple Primer
I like the color lift that this gives.

Foundation: Revlon Age Defying Liquid Color 04
I like this foundation and use it often.
Rouge: Mary Kay stick from a limited line
Powder: Lustre Aromaleigh Twilight supernatural powder
Nice gleam. Used my normal powder brush, not a FO.
Blush: Meow Masterpiece Water Lilies Love this color!
Lips: NYX Round Gloss Apricot 19
This is gorgeous and vibrant when applied heavily. Later it softens to a delicious stain-y look, but it is still moist with product on the lip. You can see how it looks here.

I quite like Meow mineral shadows. I am sampling several types, but they all seem to be equally pigmented and equally easy to use.

VandalEyes are our newest, most highly pigmented collection of multi-purpose eye shadows. Silky smooth and designed to be extra long wearing, they're intense and powerful but they are *not* for the faint of heart...Can be applied dry for a bold look, or foiled (applied wet) for the most intense color and sheen.

I still felt like turquoise today.

And I'm still trying out mineral foundations on the weekend. This went on more evenly. I also like the color. It's nearly a perfect match. It was also easier to apply, whether because of the brand or because I'm beginning to know better how to apply them.

Lips: Lancome Groupie rimmed with Beauté Urge

Do you wear AL foundation? AL shadows?
They are really lovely. It's also very nice that you can buy sample sizes until you know what colors you would like full sizes of.

Glitters

I'm not sure that is strictly true, but it was true for me. I found Girlactik and fell in love with some of the products before I ever knew an Internet search would likely find me more companies than I could possibly sample. I tried one glitter, then I ended up, as usual, buying several. If one is great, would 4 or 5 be better?

I've used the Lavender in one look here. It's a gorgeous bright but deep lavender.

I have colors that are similar to AL's prettyplease rocks! glam glitter, but enough different to justify having both.

Because I like the Girlactik so well and because the glitters were around the caps, I transferred them all to ziplocks, the way AL's come as samples. That way I don't lose a single piece of glitter.

The colors I have (I love all that I have): White Gold; Lavender; Multi-Jewels; Champagne. I thought I also had Multi-Bronze, but I don't see it in my stash. It might still be in a container.

Pearl Base (a soft pink with glimmer) is used under light ones:

There is a savings if you buy the products together. This is White Gold:

They do have a darker base for darker colors.

I find applying the glitter over eye pencil works just as well.

Star Shadow
This has an Allure Choice Award.
Girlactik Beauty Star Shadow is a wonderful, lush, silky shadow. I only have one color, Buttershine, a soft beige, that I bought for a base or highlighter. If you like the color, you'd likely like it.

Edit: I didn't realize they could be applied wet or dry. I've only tried dry.

One of the nicest compliments I've received was from a young girl working in the shop where I bought it. She thought it was terrific that I was wearing the glitter -- it looks great! I knew I'd love it. She said most women who weren't her age wouldn't even look at it.

Have you tried any girlactik glitters or other products? What is your fave?

I liked this look! What do you think?

Eyes: AL, unless noted
Base: forget now, possibly Trish McAvoy, then my sparkly nude mix -- this also makes the Grape a little less matte. I might try a black base for a change, but truthfully, I think this is about as dark as I can carry anyway. My skin sort of reads a true color for all colors; it's like a white sheet of paper, though not white, of course.
Crease: Ozone Rocks!
Lids and drylined lower: Grape, matte -- I love this color and wondered how it would look with turquoise
Tight lined top and lower: Fernand Aubry Moredore -- hard to get this to draw on my eyes (it's really old) but it drew on my hand just fine! It's a pretty color, plus it's French. Used to be sold at JCP.
Mascara: Guerlain, top; Tarte, lower (if you check out my lasting post, you can see how well the mascara lasts thru the day)
Brows: Chanel pencil
Concealer: Dior skinflash
Drylined top and lower: Girlactik multi-jewels

Much better with my hair colored! Redken 10 NW + 20% peroxide. Left it on about 5 mins longer today, which is why it is pulling a little more ash.

Primer: Smashbox W/Dermaxl -- didn't want to change the color of the foundation
Foundation: Chanel, discontinued
Rouge: Lancome China Berry stick, also discontinued
Powder: my sparkly mix, the Signature Club A Hyaluronic
Blush: Lancome Petticoat Pink cream high on cheeks

Lips: Too Faced Diamond Gloss, Fire

The picture makes my foundation look really sheer again, so I might have to switch my sunscreen away from the one that is moisturizing.

I think I'll do AL Gothic Lolita eyes tomorrow. And Fyrinnae lips.

Aromaleigh is so much easier to apply than Fyrinnae. I do love Grape. It's such a pretty color -- it surprises me because it is matte.

Eyes:
Base: Nude Frost, then Meow Nicole S
Crease: AL Grape matte, then dry lined both
Lids: AL Dandelion satin petals frost
Lined both: Clarins Midnight Flash, discontinued -- wish I had more!
Lined both: Girl Actik Lavender glitter -- love this! -- I used this a couple of years before I found AL.
Mascara: Tarte on lower; Black on upper

Lips: NYX Lips Glory
A fun, updated 60's sort of color. Quite yummy, actually.

All the rest of the makeup is the same as yesterday. I like it, do you?

Meantime, I sure wish I could still get the Chanel foundation that is discontinued. It is a perfect shade for my coloring. Their new colors are way off. Have you tried them? Do they work for your skin tone?

FOTD Chanel Collection Essentielle Lumiere Tendresse

Chanel palettes
Chanel has brought out these collections several times now, and the colors are so close to each other that I think it took me a couple of years to realize they are actually different each season! Some are quite brown looking, a summer soleil coloring.

I have one like that, and I will show it in a couple of days. It's not my fave. I was looking for a little more color. And some browns do nothing for my eyes. OTOH, Chanel usually has beautiful colors, quite fashion forward.

The palettes are designed with 9 colors. On each side there are two shadows (upper) and one gloss (lower.) The top middle is a blush. The lower two middle are lipsticks that are sheer, like glosses. You can mix and match across the sides, or you can get a complete look by staying to one side or the other and using the blush with either side.

The Plus
The idea that you could possibly travel with one thing only, plus a mascara.

The Negatives
I doubt it's possible.

They need to redesign the lip brush to have a cap. Who wants to put it back into the velvet pouch and mess up the fabric? I thought they would have fixed this a couple of palettes ago. Surely I'm not the only one who thinks like this. What are the designers thinking?

Eyes
After using a base and Girlactik Beauty Star Shadow in Buttershine:
from right side of palette (the pinker side)
Pink on lid; silvery grey in crease and outer corners.

I knew I could change the look with blue liner, as I did yesterday, and I thought of green or grey, but I was curious how to wear this without changing or vamping the look, as most of my blacks or browns in liner would have been too harsh.

Pencil lined top and bottom: Avon cosmic brown glimmer stick, thinly on the bottom to ease any harshness. Outlined outside that line on the bottom with Mary Kay Ocean Blue, a sort of soft slate blue.

I had really wanted to stay to one side only, but I felt it was very light, so I drylined top and lower, with the brown from the left side of the palette and used that in outer corners over the silvery. The blue kicked it up just a tad, but not so you would see blue.

Brows: La Prairie pencil
Mascara: BE Buxom, top and lower (or did I forget the lower??)

Face:
Primer: MUFE
Foundation: experimented with a Viviane Woodard white cream stick, no glimmer, with a dot of foundation (Signature A) that is too dark and yellow, mixed in (on the back of my hand, just under the index finger), before I applied it. Hey! it worked. It looked good!
Concealer: Guerlain Rose
Powder: my sparkly mix, then Chanel loose Roselight (it is matte).
Blush: from the palette

Lips from the right side of the palette using Beauté technique (in reverse). Applied the plain apricot pink first, then lightly rimmed it with the sparkly gloss on the right. It was very pretty.

Just for curiosity

I called 4 Chanel counters in a different time zone (ours were closed) until someone answered the phone (SAKs in Las Vegas). She confirmed that no liners came out to go with the palettes, that usually in the ads they show black, but you could use grey or brown or taupe. For me, black would have been serious over kill. Blue, like yesterday would have been beautiful.

What do you think? I'd have to carry some AL glitter with me, at least, to spark it up some. But the colors are quite lush.

Tomorrow I will try the left side of this palette, take a pix, then vamp it up some. And take another pix.
