Chanel Les Quatre eye shadow Sublimes: Marine, Beige Rose, Granite, Clear Blue
I rarely use this set, but I should use it more often. I originally bought it because I didn’t have anything in this color family. All my blues were more of a normal blue.
This set leans toward teal. If you make an X, the upper right and lower left are both light shades, though I’ve never worn them alone, say, for day. Thinking about it, I wonder why, and want to do it sometime soon.
The opposite line, are two darks, very dark and extremely dark. One looks black-blue; the other looks black-black-blue. They would be very dramatic if used for evening — or even to achieve a goth look.
You can see where I laid the lines. I used the lighter of the two dark blues to dryline the bottom. The darkest to dryline the top.
Arbonne mascara, 2 step. La Prairie brow pencil. Dior skinflash concealer with a touch of Arbonne in the outer corners.
Chanel foundation; my sparkly powder mix, followed by BE mineral veil sort of like a bronzer.

Highlight: Benefit Georgia
Blush: YSL # 19, also used as a bronzer

Lips: NYX Aphrodite + rimmed with Beauté Paramour (and a touch in the center.)
What do you think?

February 14th, 2010 — Avon, Brows, Chanel, Clinique, Cosmetics, La Prairie, Mary Kay, Merle Norman, Prescriptives, Review, Revlon, Swatch
Finding a color that works for blonds that isn’t too dark or too yellow, is a trick.
Here are some favorites of mine that were collected over time:

Top to bottom:
Powder: Merle Norman — Perfect shades when mixed and matched together;
Pencils: Chanel, Clinique, La Prairie, Prescriptives (love the tiny diameter and the tiny brush, also that it feeds up and doesn’t need to be sharpened — comes in only two colors), Mary Kay, Tova, Avon, Revlon (this tends to be darker) (packaging has changed now, but has gel at one end.)
Swatches:
Generally, brow pencils are harder. They draw well on the brow, not so well without a brow bone behind them. La Prairie is not pictured, it wouldn’t draw and just made my skin red, sorry about that! Then the red showed through some of the other colors, so look at the bottom.

Left to right: Powder:
Merle Norman lighter color (barely visible on skin, but shows up well on brow), then deeper color; Pencils: Chanel, Clinique, Mary Kay, Tova, Avon, Prescriptives, Revlon first without gel, then with gel.
Do you have any other colors or brands that you particularly like?

February 12th, 2010 — Allure Choice Award, Aromaleigh, Bare Escentuals, Brows, Chanel, Cosmetics, Equal opportunity customer, FOTD, Foundation, Highlighting, Lancome, Lip Gloss, Mary Kay, Mascara, Meow, NYX, Pencils, Review, Rouge or blush, Victoria Jackson
This is a little more of a made up look than I’ve been wearing lately, but it is really the same amount of product. I could tweak it with a little glitter on my lips, but wanted to show it as-is.
I wanted to try a few E.L.F. products because they are so inexpensive.
Mineral Shadows
The mineral shadows come in the same jar as BE and are about the same size. They compare favorably with BE. They are not as sparkly as AL or Meow, at least the colors I chose. The minerals were the most expensive of any of the products I ordered — $3 each for full size.
Lip liner pencils
The pencils are called Feather-Proof Moisturizing Lip Liner. It has not migrated. For $1, it is worth trying. They have a pretty good mix of colors, most of them are fairly neutral with nuances of color. Spice is not at all orange, but more of a true neutral. I like it, even though it wasn’t what I ordered.
Waterproof pen liner:
This worked well yesterday. The felt tip is sharper (in feel) and dryer than the Mary Kay one that I loved that is discontinued. I forgot to try the black today. I used Midnight yesterday and it did well. Again, $1.

Eyes: All dry except where noted
Base: Trish McEvoy, then my beige sparkly mix
Crease: E.L.F. Caffeinated mineral
Outer corners: E.L.F. Glamorous mineral
Inner Corner: Meow because photo made it look matte, which it doesn’t in RL — don’t know why the camera does this — and of course, in RL you don’t go around with one eye closed; it is a flash of color when you blink.

Drylined E.L.F. Royal mineral, top and lower outside pencil line, then wetlined on top, very pretty wetlined
Pencil lined, top and bottom (no MAC, LOL) E.L.F. Plum brightening eye liner
Mascara: top BE Buxom; lower Lancome Definicils
Brows: Victoria Jackson pencil
Face:
Comparing Lancome foundation on one side and Chanel on the other
Revlon Primer
E.L.F. Persimmon Shimmering Facial Whip glimmer up middle of face (this would be good to give your face color in winter or whenever you needed a pick-me-up, placing it differently on your face)
E.L.F. Spice Lined lips and filled in (they sent me this by mistake, not the one I ordered, but I thought I’d try it anyway)
E.L.F. Blossom Hypershine Lip Gloss
E.L.F. Bitter Went over lip line and inside with
E.L.F. Pink Lemonade All Over Color Stick (such a cute little size, almost a sample)
And my glimmer powder mix.
Shimmering Facial Whip: this is a nice product and comes in several shades. The browner ones would be good for getting a tanned look without being in the sun. I might try one of those next. This has an Allure Choice Award.
Multipurpose, on-the-go whipped colorant is vitamin B, C and E packed to instantly brighten and sooth skin with no greasy after-feel.
Squeeze a pearl-sized [more like a dot] amount onto finger and blend into cheeks, eyes, or lips.
Hypershine Gloss
This was not as visible as some glosses I own. It has some taste, but it was not at all objectionable. I punched it up with more lip liner. I intentionally chose a neutral, as well as to the color range I don’t usually buy. If you can’t do that for $1, when can you?
Hyper, glass-like shine infused with micro-mirror technology to reflect light. Smooths lips on contact with a conditioning shine that lasts for hours. Create that natural lip stain of color that’s sheer, subtle and beautiful!
Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara
Book Girl has gorgeous thick lashes that almost brush her sunglasses. Any colored mascara looks mascara-y. I thought this might give her some definition, but still look natural. She tried it yesterday, and it worked well.
Achieve glossy, shiny, healthy-looking lashes and brows with the infused long wearing conditioning agents in our wet gloss lash & brow mascara. Looking pulled together has never been easier!
Today she is using the AL clear mascara. She says this went on with more product on the first application. Both feel equally light.
All over color stick This would be good for airplane travel.
This worked well. It’s quite a darling little size. I wouldn’t mind an array of colors. I would think this would work better for dry skin than for oily.
Duo Eye Shadow Cream
This is the only product I bought that I haven’t tried yet. I thought I might try it as a dark base under minerals.
My opinion, you can’t go wrong for the price.
The actual packaging, not of the product, but of the containers is not as rich as NYX. NYX has more of the look of MAC.
These are not as high-glam or as Indie in appearance when on as AL or Meow, but some items, like the lip pencils, are more than favorable for drugstore lines, especially for price.
I think my girls would enjoy having some of this. It would make good stocking stuffers. Or even birthday favors.

My take: this was a very pretty color and not one I would have bought if it weren’t in the package. So getting the package gives new colors to try. I simply reapplied this one throughout the day. If you notice, it seems to separate at the lines, but smooshing it smooths it down again. I’m not sure why it does that. It has a slight taste and smell that is not objectionable.

I thought this was a soft, pretty look. It’s not a look I wear very often, but it bears repeating. It was quite nice.

January 28th, 2010 — Age, Aromaleigh, Avon, Chanel, Clarins, Cle de Peau, Dior, Estee Lauder, Guerlain, La Prairie, Lancome, Lumene, Mary Kay, Serum, Shiseido, Signature Club A, Un femme d'un certain age
Here are some thoughts on various types of serums and the links to posts where I have written more specifically. Some of the serums are pricing their way out of my price point. There are actually some that are over $1000 being marketed in Japan. I suspect some are worth it; others are not.
Whenever possible, let a beauty advisor put some on your skin. See if it is possible to get a small amount to try at home before you commit to a big purchase.
This is only a partial list, as I have thought of them. I will continue to update, as I think of it.
Body Serum
Arbonne has a wonderful body serum and body lotion. You can find my review at the above link.
Facial Serums
There are also serums targeted for eyes.
Anti-Wrinkle
La Prairie CELLULAR Retexturizing Booster
This just might be a miracle product. Whenever I apply it, I see immediate results. I generally use it for several days at a time, then I give it a rest and use it again when I see the need. It is expensive, but it really works. I think it works better than Renova. Price: $185.00 | 30 ml / 1.0 oz. (Unfortunately, it’s possible this is no longer available. I have not tried any of the comparible LP serums to see if a newer one is as good.)
Serums with Vitamin C
Many companies have C-serums because they work. I have used C products for years. Mary Kay is one of the companies that has just added a C formula. If you can’t beat them, join them. The important thing is to find a C serum that works for you, then use it.
Here’s a partial list of companies that have C-serums: Awake, MK, Aromaleigh (generic), Lancome, Estee Lauder, Prescriptives, Avon, Lumene. Choose the link above to see my thoughts on each.
Arbonne has a number of excellent serums, including lifting, RE9 (with C), and Revelage (whitening) I won’t be without the lifting or the whitening.
Avon has been a leader in skin care, very innovative. They were the first line to come out with an alpha-hydroxy — and it made a big difference in my skin. Their anew products are excellent. I do not care for either of their pump serums that they had a couple of years ago, because they smelled so bad. I recommend smelling them before buying to see if they still smell. I didn’t notice a huge difference like I did with their alpha-hydroxy products. Some of their products are targeted by age.
Beauticontrol
Beauticontrol makes several serums that I like. Some are targeted for 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s skin. I’ve liked Regeneration Gold for years. It’s a two step process that mixes when you pump it. It used to be that one was red, the other white. Now one is green, the other white. I do not know if it is the same product. Regeneration Platinum Plus is supposed to be the next step up, but it rolls on my skin, so I use it only on my neck and chest and bought more of the Regeneration Gold. They make C products, but I’ve not tried them as I have others that I am using at the moment.
Chanel Serums
Chanel makes a number of serums, and they are all excellent. It depends on your price point and your skin concerns. Sublimage products kept me moist even in the dryness of Las Vegas, using no other moisturizers layered in. The Radiance line has an excellent hydrating serum. As an aside, I did not care for Sublimage eye cream.
Clarins
I have used Super Restorative Serum. I likely might buy it again. I like what it says it does; I’m not sure I saw it doing it. I tended to use it more for hydrating than anything else. When I opened the container, when it seemed empty, there were still several days worth of product left. I put it in a small jar and used it to the last drop.
On the whole I like Clarins products, so I suspect their other serums would be good too. Their beauty advisers are generally knowledgeable and happy to help you. They are good about giving small samples to try.
Cle de Peau serums
Cle de Peau is the high end Shiseido line. CdP makes a number of serums, and they all feel good. I’m not sure how to choose one over the other. I have one. I’m not convinced it does anything particularly, but that might be because I tend to use others that I have.
Dior Serums
Dior makes some excellent serums. Capture Totale and HydrAction are two that I have tried. Capture Totale came highly recommended by a woman in NYC who swears by it.
Guerlain serums
Orchidee Imperiale is their highest, newest line. It is excellent. Super Aqua-Serum came highly recommended on the strength of one older woman who works for Guerlain whose skin is exceptionally beautiful. It’s a toss up which is better. Take your pick. They also have Success Future and Substantific serums. I get my Guerlain from Claire at the Palazzo in Las Vegas. Call 702) 732-7008 or email GuerlainPalazzo.STORE@lvmhuspc.com
Hydrating serums
La Prairie CELLULAR HYDRATING SERUM is an excellent hydrator, one of the very best. It is lightweight. It works by binding moisture to the skin and restoring the skin’s natural moisture barrier. A little goes a long ways and it stays fresh in the bottle. I use it generally on very cold days or whenever my face feels like it needs more moisture from the inside out. Price: $185.00
La Prairie Serums
Like Chanel, these are excellent, and it depends on your price point. I have not tried the latest lines.
Shiseido serums
Shiseido has a number of serums that are all excellent. Again, it depends on your price point and what you are hoping to accomplish.
Signature Club A
Super Strength High Potent-C Anti-Wrinkle Capsules $29.50
I like this a lot. It’s in my rotation of C products.
Retinol Wrinkle Penetrating Capsules 12 Hour Release $32.50
This is in my rotation. I like it a lot.
Viviane Woodard
I’ve used these products since I was 18. They have a number of serums, including specialized ones to use at night. Their day time serums are very good and moderately priced. The evening ones really give your skin a boost. They are used only periodically. Unlike ones by La Prairie that are also used only occasionally, these will not break the bank. Likely they perform different functions, but they help the skin.
Whitening serums
Many companies offer whitening serums. They started first in Asian countries. It’s not surprising that Shiseido has one. If you want to break up an age spot the fastest possible way, then your best bet is laser. Be sure to use SPF every day along with these.
Arbonne Revelage is an excellent whitener, which works by breaking up dark spots from below and keeping them from forming from the top.
Mary Kay TimeWise® Even Complexion Essence
I consider this more of a preventative, than a curative. I want to see faster results. I have no patience.
What serums do you know, use and love?
As I think of more, I will update.

Updated to include my review of Hourglass primer (and comparing it to Chanel’s Illuminating Base.) And also as a reminder about the value of using a primer.
To prime or not to prime, that is the question.
If you’ve not used a primer, try one and see what you think. Get a makeover and ask that they use one.
If you truly don’t like a primer, return it, if you bought it at a physical store. There are enough primers out there now, that you can find one that you love.
If you are using a primer, I’m guessing you will never go back to without.
Why prime?
What is the purpose of primer?
Primer perfects your look. It makes the surface of your skin silky with less visible imperfections, so you use less foundation. Your products glide over the top, meaning you need less foundation to cover.
What is primer made of?
Usually there is some silicone or one of the ‘cones’ in it to create a smooth surface on the skin.
Some folks even use Monistat gel for an inexpensive alternative.
How does it work?
Most primers are the last step before applying your foundation.
Primer slips over the skin, creating a light barrier, usually with silicone. Foundation glides on easier, goes on smoother, and covers better with less product.
Under a certain age, some primers will stop oil from coming through and messing with your look.
Once a certain age, a primer may act like spackle, one even has that name, gently filling in lines and pores to give a smooth surface for foundation and optically take time off your age.
Is it strictly cosmetic or is it also corrective?
All perform a cosmetic service; some are also corrective.
Color correction
Some primers color correct or add a sheer layer of color. Others are clear. Both Smashbox and Revlon Vital Radiance have multiple colors to correct.
Guerlain Meteorites Perles
Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer; Base Perfection. Great little powder balls that color correct and do other neat things.
Contact Claire at Guerlain at the Palazzo in Las Vegas for all your Guerlain needs. (702) 732-7008. If you’re in town, stop in to visit!
Vital Radiance Smoothing Face Primer, SPF 25, Petal 002, Cool, 1 fl oz
which has been discontinued, can still be found on occasion. It came in two colors, cool and warm. I use cool.
Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer
is another good one. I use the purple. Purple will also bring a foundation into a cooler tone. One minimizes red tones; one minimizes yellow or sallow tones; one minimizes dark circles, veins, and dark spots. (The best thing for dark spots is using a lightening product or having them removed either by laser or by freezing.)
Some have added ingredients that benefit your skin.
Aromaleigh Easy applicator pump bottle. Very nice product.

Arbonne Virtual Illusion makeup primer
Supposedly acts like a natural botox to improve the surface of your skin.
Create a flawless canvas for makeup application with this advanced primer. A blend of vitamins, skin-perfecting pigments, advanced cushioning and anti-aging ingredients work in harmony to help tone, smooth and minimize the visual appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. The result is a velvety, matte, radiant finish.
GABA, hyaluronic acid, polypeptides, gamma orizinol, light deflecting pigments, B-glycherritinic acid; horsetail extract, green tea leaf and grape seed extracts
Guerlain
L’Or – has real flecks of gold in it and creates a lovely look.
Again, contact Claire, see above.
La Prairie
I have not tried this white one.
La Prairie for eyes
Shiseido Benefiance Facial Lifting Complex also works to firm.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF15 with Dermaxyl Complex (Unboxed)
Here are some good ones:
Avon Magix evidently stops oil too; has a fairly heavy consistency; is generally well liked by everyone. Very reasonably priced at $10.
Smashbox – comes in clear (I like the purple better), purple (to correct skin tone, but it works to cool up colors of foundation that are a bit yellow),green (ditto, I haven’t tried this one) and an apricot one that has ingredients to benefit skin (I like the idea of this.) To me they all feel the same, but the clear one seems to do less. Placebo effect, likely!
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer oil free spf 15 $52
I loved this product. It has a slight radiance to it which makes my skin look perfect. This is something I likely will be buying. 132 people reviewed it at Sephora, giving it an average of more than 4.5 stars.
Today I compared it to Chanel’s SHEER ILLUMINATING BASE. Both illuminate; Hourglass seems more slippery. I preferred the look of Hourglass once I had on my foundation and sparkly powder mix. I generally use Chanel’s only up the center of my face as a highlighter.
It is water-resistant and 100% fragrance free, oil free, and paraben free. It does not have an odd smell because of ingredients. I smell nothing.
It neutralizes the skin, creating a smooth, uniform slate for makeup application. Don’t forget the slight radiance which evenly distributes light to soften and camouflage skin imperfections and fine lines. It also protects from oil breakthrough, so your makeup stays looking fresh longer.
It has no
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
The SPF is formulated with naturally-derived titanium dioxide and zinc oxide rather than chemical sun-blocking agents.
These work, but I don’t like them as well
Laura Geller Spackle – Sephora sampled this.
It started out white and got taupe colored when exposed to air. The sample was in a pot. The full size is in a pump which would eliminate exposure to air.
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer – Oil Free
Sephora sampled this also. It was one of the first on the market.
Revlon It’s OK, but I didn’t like it as well. Comes in two formulas.
Revlon Age Defying Instant Firming Face Primer for Normal/Combination Skin (Pack of 2)
Sheer Cover Light weight. Still, it is nice.
Smashbox Highlight and Prime together
You can read my review here. I don’t like the dual delivery system. It doesn’t feed evenly. You have to cover one side to make sure the other feeds. I love the color though. Would be better to have just had the highlight to use as you wish, and add to your primer or not, as you wish. Or have two separate tubes in the set vs. 2 in 1 tube.
How about perfecting your look even more?
There are products you can apply over your makeup that filter out and soften lines, similar to when Doris Day was filmed through a special lens.
Clarins makes a great one!
Use this around your mouth or eyes, wherever you need extra help. Try it out at one of the counters.
La Prairie
Pink colored, quite a heavy consistency. Pricey. No better than some and less than others. Evidently, it comes in gold too. I think it is quite thick.
The eye product tends to roll some, but the look is pretty.
Signature A Wrinkle Filiment
is heavier, similar to La Prairie’s, but apricot colored.
MAC Prep and Prime
Prep and prime is a face primer. I like prep and prime better than Smashbox Photo finish because it doesn’t have that slick feel to it. It’s not all silicone. I recommend it. Miranda
MAC Black eye primer
I also bought MAC’s black eye primer. It makes a huge difference in how the eyeshadow looks. Want a paler, more natural look, use a skin toned primer. Want uber kapow and drama for evening, use black primer! Miranda
Do you use a primer?
Which one(s) do you use or have you tried?
Let me know if I left out any that you particularly love.
Nearly every line has a primer in their arsenal now. I’d like to hear about any good ones!
To buy Arbonne from Bookgirl, if you don’t have a representative, just contact me, and I’ll put you in touch.

2009 was a good year. Any time one’s health is good, and that of one’s family and friends, it is a good year. Then throw in a few good times, a lotta good perfumes, some good books and movies, and it becomes a very good year indeed.

December 10th, 2009 — Chanel, Chocolate, Comparing, Guerlain, Patchouli, Perfume layering, Plum
I’m laughing at myself today. Sometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do!
I have so many fragrances that sometimes it is hard to choose, and if it’s been a while since I’ve worn something, I need a scent nudge to remember how it smells on me or how it makes me feel or how it enhances my mood. But I don’t want to pick the wrong scent for the day, because if it doesn’t match what I hoped for, I’d be better off going scentless.
Yesterday I wore Guerlain 68 for a while, but it wasn’t doing it for me. It didn’t have enough going for it or for me. I’m looking for a deeper fragrance to match the weather, I guess.
I’ve been thinking of Coromandel for a couple of days, but first I was drawn today to Moscow. Then I thought, why not wear both at the same time, not one later, you might like it!
So I have Moscow on my left arm and Coromandel on my right. I smell good!
And to top it off, I’m burning a scent tart Autumn Fruit by Yankee Candle. That’s yummy too. Interesting that they all go together.
The stars have aligned!
Moscow Notes: Musk, fruit, wood…vanilla, bergamot, red currants, absinthe, lemon, plum
Coromandel Notes~ “named for the Chinese lacquered screens Gabrielle Chanel collected, is a spirited oriental with amber and dry notes”. Orange peel, frankincense, patchouli, chocolate, vanilla.
Coromandel is much more in your face. It overpowers Moscow on the first spritz, but as it settles down, the two are equals.
Moscow has a little more fruit (plummy) but this is not a teeny-bop fruit, oh no! This is grown up.
And Coromandel has that patchouli-chocolate thang going for it. I’m a sucker for both, unless the chocolate is fake smelling or the patchouli is too dry. This is just perfect.
Often if I layer a fragrance, I just spritz one on top of the other, but this I believe I would do exactly the same again. Each is more interesting with the other, but I would not want them blended. I like the distinctness of them both, and I get to enjoy two fragrances, not one.
If you like plum
Another plum is Rochas Femme, but I don’t wear it as well.
Notes for Femme
Top Notes: Peach, plum, bergamot, lemon, rosewood
Heart Notes: Ylang-ylang, jasmine, May rose, clove, orris
Base Notes: Musk, amber, oakmoss, vanilla, patchouli, benzoin, leather
You might also like
Ghost (deep night) (pretty bottle too, it looks like the moon.)
top: hibiscus, rose petals and ambrette grains.
mid: Jasmine, spicy sandalwood and warm frankincense tones
base: vanilla, musk, ambergris and apricots
Notes: Rose, apricot, peach, vanilla, musk
So, asking a friend which she prefers, she likes them both, but Moscow might have the edge. But I love what Coromandel is bringing to it, having the edginess of the patchouli-chocolate along with it. I actually like them both together better than I’ve liked either one of them alone.
Do you wear either of these?
Do you have a favorite chocolate? patchouli? plum or fruit?
And I’m listening to Christmas music on my iPod — jazz at the moment. I hope you are having a great day!

December 2nd, 2009 — Chanel, Clinique, Lip Gloss, Mark, NYX, Review, Rimmel, Swatch
Oh, yummy, is all I can say. You can’t go wrong for $4.
When I made my recent trek to an Ulta, I bought two colors (they had very little selection and do not sell NYX through their website, darn!). (On my second visit they had a good selection, but only 1 or 2 of each color.) You can find them at cherryculture. The online color selection looks like there is a great range. Another color I’d like to try is Copper Sparkle…Ginger Sparkle…Orange Sparkle (why not!) …Rose Sparkle …I can’t choose just one. Now if only the Ulta was nearer to me, I’d check it out again. Why pick the same o same o, when it is reasonable to try something totally different. I might love it!
I took these first two pictures down. Next time I wear them, I will update the photos.
Fuchsia
Just what you’d think — gorgeous!
Paprika
This photographed to the pink side, but it is really more apricot.
Wow, these are great colors. In the wand, they look metallic, similar to some of the Mark metallic glosses (which I can’t find online any more.) They cover well, but are not quite as opaque or metallic as the Mark’s are. They are definitely a gloss and not a liquid lipstick. They feel so much better than the Rimmel I talked about the other day. They feel great and moisturize well. Two hours later, it is still holding up well, not migrating, and — did I say — feeling great.
Have you tried these? what colors have you tried? Do you love them as I do?
Here’s Pink Sparkle
Light, bright almost orchid shade. I’ve rimmed it with a Lancome Starlight. See the technique here.

Here’s Copper Sparkle:
It looks like a beautiful rose copper in the tube. Rimmed with Clinique Whisper, also dotted in the middle.

Orange Sparkle:

You know, when these are so good, you don’t need to spend the money on a Chanel. For the price of one Chanel, you could have several of these. Go for it!
Karin
5 for color
5 for staying power, do not migrate
5 for formula, metallic with a bit of sparkle shimmer, but not frosted
5 for no taste or smell, but no ingredient taste/smell either
5 for the feel, simply yummy
I’ll say it again, my lips feel great!

Wow! I really had fun with this one! Sometimes serendipity really comes through for you. Still working through all the samples I purchased. It’s fun to have enough that I just put the colors on the counter and pick 2 or 3 I haven’t used yet that I think will go together. Serenade pulls more blue/violet on me than teal (how it looks in the ziplock) , at least when used with Coppelia.
How to place the lid colors
First, I couldn’t decide which color to place on my inner and outer lids. So, I thought, why not do both? I figured it might be fun, and today wouldn’t matter. Surprisingly enough, it is not weird, it is beautiful. I didn’t really like the first eye, but when I did the second, it was just super. I have never done this before, but I might do it really often!
Eyes:
Base: Nude Frost + BE Queen Phyllis
Alternating inner and outer lids: AL serenade + AL coppelia en pointe
Drylined lower: AL serenade
Serenade: A color inspired by my favorite ballet. Beautiful smooth teal plush matte base with a lush violet iridescent highlight. (Sheen)
Coppelia: A lovely berried plum plush matte base with a dimensional smooth violet highlight. (Sheen)
Mascara: Sapphire Cover Girl
Lashes: Witches Charm Temptress Tentatrice Black with Red tinsel! I bought these one Halloween, might be two years ago from Walgreens or CVS. They have quite an array offered online still, and they aren’t terribly expensive. These came with top and bottom lashes. update: I used them as upper lashes the next day.

No blush, only Chanel stick rouge under my sparkly mix of powder, over one of my usual primers (Smashbox purple today) and foundations.

Lips: MAC Love Alert + Arbonne Delicious, both glosses, one on each lip, smooshed

Still trying sample colors I bought. Both shadow colors are gorgeous today! In my new colors I couldn’t find a green that looked compatible with my shirt, so I thought I would go with a color that had as much depth.
This was a simple look. Sometimes you have to know when to quit. I could have done more liner, etc. but why when this looked perfect as-is.
Eyes:
Base: Nude Frost + BE Queen Phyllis
Inner lids: AL Air and Light les papillons
Outer lids and drylined lower: AL Flutura’s Cloud les papillions
Mascara: Cover Girl Sapphire Eyelights
Air & Light: A silvery white with highlights and sparks of every shade of the rainbow. Full of delightful dimension and interference shimmer, this shade passes into the ether. [no d&c dye in this one]
Flutura’s Cloud: A brilliant blue of exceptional vibrancy and depth. Metallic heart with intense blue frost and sparks of blue, red and gold. This shade was inspired by the amazing color of the Blue Morpho Butterfly.

Blush: AL Dolly
Highlight: Mary Kay up the center of my face, over foundation, Chanel stick rouge and my sparkly powder mix

Lips: Arbonne Bubblegum over whatever was left of some gloss, topped with Lauren Luke gloss — Chose this color as much for the depth of it as the color.

Trish Face Essentials 10 — I’ve had this quad for a long time, but I’ve used it infrequently, because while I liked the idea of it, I didn’t like the execution. This set leans towards pink and is softer in tone than the other set I bought which leans towards apricot. The left most color is a brown-pink blush, but it can be used on the eyes. The other colors are beige, brown, and navy. Like the Arbonne sets for Smokey or Aubrey Eyes, the darkest color can be blended with the brown to deepen the depth.
Wetlined lower: MAC Fascinating (white)
Drylined: Navy from the Trish set
Tightlined lower: MAC blackgraph

I was happy with the way this turned out today. I think the MAC liners snapped it. I’ll definitely try this again.

Lids: Mix of the righthand silvery gray with the lefthand deep brown — it pulled quite a bit of lavender from the gray — I liked this better than the brown used with the light beige
Tightlined: MAC graphblack, with Earthline at the bottom too, smudged with the MAC brush
Mascara: Guerlain Le2
Brows: La Prairie pencil

Primer: MUFE
Foundation: Tova cream
Blush from the palette (sort of a soft apricot)
My sparkly mix powder.
Lips: Used 3 of the 4 colors: Brightest color on lips, then the right hand sparkly rose gloss, rimmed and up the center with the left side lightest sparkly beige gloss

Do you have this palette? I think it will be a nice, soft neutral for spring or fall.
