Bringing in the New Year

in Just thinking, Quotations

We had a lovely New Year's Eve. We spent it with friends, as we've done for a number of years.  I only know about 5 people there.  Everybody brings their kids, if they have them, and the kids have a good time running around and just generally having a good time.  (My kids played cards.)

Houses in their area have large lots, and each year they have a joint party with a neighbor and build a bonfire.  (The temperature last night was 73, but cold for us with a breeze, so the fire felt good.) This year they hired a singer with an acoustic guitar who was really great.  He sounded like Garth Brooks.  He said he'd been singing for 7 hours that day!

Anyway, it was relaxing, and just the best.

Additionally, I called a few friends to wish them Happy New Year.

This quote says it all:

Beauty, truth, friendship, love, creation -- these are the great values of life. We can't prove them, or explain them, yet they are the most stable things in our lives.

-- Jesse Herman Holmes

I hope your day(s) bring you many blessings.
