"You don't have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things - to compete. You can be just an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals." Sir Edmund Hillary Mountaineer and Explorer, today's Insight of the Day quote
I especially liked this quotation today in light of thinking about heroes here at my blog.
Often we don't recognize heroism in our own lives or in others. It may be especially difficult to acknowledge when it is us. We're looking for something big or dramatic, but it can be as mundane as getting through a day and not giving up, when not all would choose to go through it in that way.
Being sufficiently motivated to be in the game is a large part of sticking with something that is difficult. Sticking it out, finding solutions or not, looking for solutions, can be heroic in its own way, chipping at something little by little. That's life in a nutshell sometimes.
I'm sure you know some heroes in your own lives. They are inspirations for us.
