One fragrance was Chamade. Which was the other one?

What two fragrances was I comparing?

About two weeks ago, I put on a fragrance that is one of my favorites. I’ve talked about it at POL at various times. For some reason, I thought I would try a vintage one alongside it that I hadn’t worn for years until I managed to snag a vintage bottle again. The first time I tried it, I thought, well, that’s not very exciting any more.
But this time when I compared them I was so surprised that they smelled almost identical on me. No wonder I liked the one so well now and used to wear the other. I wouldn’t have guessed it.
I went to look at the notes of each to see if I was imagining it or if they really shared some similarities. To my surprise, they shared eight notes! The notes were all over the board, top, mid, and base, but not in the same places for each. And really, while they were quite similar, they also are very different.
The eight notes they shared were greens, galbanum, aldehydes, rose and jasmine vetiver, benzoin and sandalwood.
What were the two fragrances?

So far, this is the only guess:
Is one fragrance RL’s Safari?
The other YSL’s Y?
It is not RL or YSL.

Hmmm….if one is Chamade, could the other one be Rive Gauche? Or Arpege? I wonder…
Good guesses. I used to wear RG (1971), but never really wore Arpege (1927). It’s kind of from the same time frame. When I can get to the info I’ll look up the year.
Well, same time frame that I wore it, but the one you’re looking for came out in 1946 evidently! That’s funny!
Plus, I never really realized how old Arpege is. Chamade was 1969.
Has to be Carven’s Ma Griffe then! I’m almost sure!
Though to my nose Ma griffe is cooler and spicier (get a weird spice note in the vintage that is very pleasurable).
Yes, you got it! I never would have thought they were similar. MG on me is greener, not really spicy. The dry down was almost identical.
