Virgin Island Water

Virgin Island Water by Creed (for men and women) is one of my favorite new fragrances this year. It transports the wearer. What I like about it is that it smells tropical, summery, warm, and even like a vacation, but it does not smell like suntan oil. To me, it smells like I am on water.

There is a bit of saltiness to it, but not much. There isn’t any oiliness at all. I find the coconut reminds me of coconut milk and the white meat of fresh coconut, such as you would find in the tropics or that you would eat and drink fresh, not the dried, sweetened coconut found in suntan lotions. There is a moistness to it.

It goes on refreshing (cool) (not sharp) and light, but it’s staying power is surprisingly good. Even after a full day, I can still get whiffs. Yet, if I wanted, I could either re-spray (I have done this) and it wouldn’t be too much, or I could layer up with something that would complement it, and it would be lovely, adding its own flavor of ambiance. It never overpowers. Instead it persuades.

The gourmand nature tempers the floral aspects, which in turn complement each other.

It is supposed to evoke the scents of the trade winds of Sir Francis Drake Channel near Ginger Island, celebrating a sailing trip taken by the Creeds. A portion of sales will benefit charities protecting the world’s oceans.

Have you tried it? do you wear it?
