Tonight is one of those perfect nights — the temperature is moderate, not too hot, not too cold, with a lovely breeze. And it was doubly nice to be out in it. It’s quite warm here (hot) in the daytime now, and in a month or so, it will be stifling at night also, but tonight was one of those perfect nights.
Sometimes it is the simplest things in life that bring the most pleasure. And it doesn’t cost a thing to be observant.
When the sunlight sparkles on the little waves of the river, it is more beautiful than the richest diamond. These diamonds are free to all. We just have to be there and notice.
I tend to notice nature — flowers, birds, animals, the sky, clouds, the night sky. I’m always glad to see something, as it feels like God smiling.
I remember a time when a friend and I were driving in the early evening and we saw the most beautiful blue birds. If we hadn’t been out, we would have missed them.
A couple of weeks ago the night sky was just stunning. I was out in it that time of night, as I was picking up at the airport. It added to the pleasure.
What could you notice in your life that would add to your happiness? Maybe as simple as taking a breath of the fresh air.
As I said, tonight is lovely!
Another moment of happiness: hearing that a friend’s husband is doing well enough that she doesn’t have to drive him to work. That’s good progress in a week!
