Yesterday I finally put my hands on my Bvlgari BLV Notte . I’d been thinking of it for a few days, but got distracted by other scents along the way.

The perfumer is Alberto Morillas who is the nose for many, many fragrances, including some of my favorites. He was the nose, sometimes working with another nose, for example for Kenzo Flower and Kenzo Flower Oriental; Bvlgari Omnia (this one I can’t smell on me); Lancome Miracle; Carolina Herrera Chic — and even Avon Treselle.

Blv Notte is said to be a deeper version of the classic Bvlgari BLV fragrance.

BLV notes: Ginger with wisteria, musk and sandalwood with a base of flax flower and warm vanilla.

I wouldn’t have really thought so, but towards evening I sprayed a bit of the BLV to test it out, and I could see similarities. I don’t really catch much ginger. Perhaps if I would layer another ginger into it to give it more of a presence it would become more what would interest me? But, of course, I already had on Blv Notte so they complemented each other nicely. I have only a purse spray of BLV and don’t usually reach for it. Again, it is missing something that I need or ends up too floral or too musky or too sweet or not enough something. I think I will try to use it up by layering it with the Blv Notte, then refill the bottle with Blv Notte. My bad!

BLV Notte Notes: Galanga, Vodka, Iris, Dark Chocolate. Some even say hints of tobacco.

Blv Notte is considered to be an oriental ambery spicy woody fragrance, but interestingly it does not list amber or the usual woods. It does smell that way, and it is definitely spicy. It is how I expected Omnia to smell, but Omnia is much softer.

Somehow that combo of vodka and dark chocolate is both interesting and comforting. Add the iris to it and you get the feel of woods, that bulby-green sort of smell. The dark chocolate lasts through all the parts of the fragrance and the vodka keeps it from being too gourmand. The chocolate is a true chocolate, it doesn’t smell like cocoa powder mix. And the total aura is invigorating.

The Bvlgari BLV Notte Body Lotion is superb. It is fragranced enough to be used in place of any edp spray. And it is nicely moisturizing. In other words, it works. It’s not just a fragrance in a lotion form that doesn’t moisturize.

I notice this week that I’m tending to reach for fragrances that energize me in some way. Maybe it’s the brightness of spring making its appearance. I’m thinking I will get into some of my more green fragrances this week, at least layer them up as the day goes on. It feels like a good time to do it. Stay tuned to see if that’s where I end up.
