Lovely spring morning here

By and by, the seasons come and go,
My, my! What a fine morning!
I put on my spring cloak
And set out east for the outskirts.
Mountains are cleansed by lingering clouds;
Sky is veiled by fine mist.
A wind comes up from the south,
Winging over the new sprouts.

T’ao Ch’ien (365-427)

I have always loved spring, from the time I grew up in Michigan when crocuses would come up through the last snow and then the tulips, to now when the weather is mild and breezy, and it is not yet hot, hot, hot. I miss looking at snow and seeing it at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don’t miss shoveling it or driving in it. I love the sounds of walking in snow, that particular crunch. And I love the smells associated with winter and snow.

But spring is why I live here and not Michigan. Nothing quite compares to a fine spring morning. All things seem possible.

What’s your weather like? Do you see any hints of spring?
