While Hollywood has reigned for nearly a century as the world’s premier filmmaking destination, North American directors are increasingly choosing to shoot their movies in distant lands.

In southeastern China, residents of Hengdian are trying to capitalize on this trend. So ambitious are they, that they hope their remote farming village in Zhejiang Province will one day eclipse Hollywood as the motion picture capital of the world.
