You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don’t have that kind of feeling for what it is you are doing, you’ll stop at the first giant hurdle.

I recently read the book When Do I Start by Karl Malden. I found it interesting to see all that he went through to establish his career. It didn’t come easy — a lot of hard work, a lot of perseverence, and a lot of lean times. And a lot of friends and networking. I didn’t really remember him from his early years so most of it was new to me. I tend to think of him as established and a man that I enjoy seeing on screen. The stories he tells about people and places and movies add insight, but are done compassionately. He is in the second longest marriage in Hollywood: 67 years. (Bob Hope and his wife were married longer.)
