I never knew until I joined POL that it is possible to determine if something is full bottle worthy for you by buying decants or minis (or share them with others) rather than buying a full bottle.
And I don’t remember how it was that I found POL in the first place.
Hmm… There are many reasons I might cave in [and buy a full bottle]; limited availability, great price, that “have to have this now” feeling etc. Also, the scents I have in decants or minis, I sort of don’t even consider buying them in full bottles - I already have them, no?
Anyways, as I see it you have several options:
The brain one - buy the one that won’t be readily available soon (Cuir de Russie, Vanille Exquise..)
The heart one - buy the one you feel the most passionate about (difficult, I know)
The wild one - save the money for the wild card, for when something just shows up and trips you, ooops… (preferably at a house that has nice packagings and hands out lots of gifts). I guess it could be a nice feeling just knowing that next time something transports you, you don’t have to think twice, you can just give in and buy it! LisaCarol at POL, with permission
I loved her idea of deciding by the brain, the heart, or the wild card. This morning, that sort of feels like a metaphor for life!
Here’s what Town and Counry says are the 85 best…who could possibly decide! Some of what they deem best are stinkers on me. And they left out a lot of lovelies. Still it’s a fun read. Be wary of the way they categorize some in strengths. Some that they say are light are potent and long lasting on me. And to say Amarige, for example, is mid-range in strength — that one will carry to the next room easily.

You can find nearly all fragrances in decants at ebay. Check out the sellers reputation before buying.
