We with two mothers, poem by Eun Mi

Eun Mi is a Korean adoptee who is a friend of mine. At various times I will share some of her writings, which are very powerful, from IAT. It is a privilege to be able to share them.

Karin

We, with two mothers
Expect little from the first
And everything from the second
Promises were made
Contracts signed
Money delivered

The second strike hits harder
Sometimes
The wound from the first never fully heals
Never scabs over
Enough
Always hits the same spot

(c) Eun Mi 1-7-07, in response to a thread detailing an adoptee’s serious problems with her AMom.
