I usually am a shy-ish person, but have come to realize that looking polished does not mean garish. And when you look polished, you look and feel confident -- even in sweatpants.... There are times when I wear costumes to events and want my face to match my costume -- it would look stupid to wear a totally beaded and jeweled Indian salwar kameez with a naked face. Since I'm pale, I usually do up my eyes (most Indian ladies wear red lipstick instead of emphasizing their gorgeous eyes...) And sometimes, certain colors just make me happy. Right now, it's shimmery peach. Last summer it was sparkly turquoise. Color is fun! Oh, and buying new makeup is a lot cheaper than buying a new wardrobe...
